Big Gay Ice Cream Opening in the Fashion District

Eater LA named Big Gay Ice Cream one of the 22 most anticipated fall restaurant openings in Los Angeles. The New York-based ice cream shop is expected to arrive at 9th and Broadway mid fall. Fans of the Salty Pimp, a delicious mix of vanilla ice cream, dulce de leche, and sea salt, all dipped in chocolate and American Globs (a savory mix of vanilla ice cream, pretzel, sea salt all dipped in chocolate), will be able to get their fix in the Fashion District soon! Customers are able to customize their own delights with menu toppings that include: Olive Oil and Sea Salt, Cayenne Pepper, Wasabi Pea Dust, Crushed Nilla Wafers, Pumpkin Butter, Dulce de Leche, Nutella, Ginger Syrup, Cardamom, Elderflower Syrup, Siracha and Key Lime Curd. In May 2013, The Daily Beast and USA Today ranked Big Gay Ice Cream as the #5 best ice cream parlor in the world - the highest ranked U.S. ice cream parlor on the list.

Forest City to Develop Two Residential Properties Near the LA Fashion District
We attended a meeting on August 20, 2014 for a presentation by developer Forest City on two innovative residential projects. One site is at 11th and Hill Streets where construction is planned for a 7-story building with 177 apartments, 7,300 sq. ft. of retail/ commercial space, and a public plaza and paseo that will be adjacent to the Herald Examiner Building. The second site is 12th and Broadway where construction of a similar 7-story building is planned with 214 apartments and 7,500 sq. ft. of street-level retail.
Traffic Alert for Primetime EMMY Awards - Monday, August 25This year the Primetime Emmy® Awards are being held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Monday, August 25. Please be advised that on Monday, August 25, there will be heavy traffic delays on the freeways and streets surrounding Nokia Theatre L.A. Live beginning at 2:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m. Specifically, Pico and Olympic Boulevards, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th, Flower, Union and Figueroa Streets, L.A. Live Way and routes 10, 101 and 110 are the main thoroughfares Emmy Awards guests will be using to arrive at the venue. If at all possible, you should avoid driving or traveling around the Nokia Theatre L.A.
