Neighborhood Prosecutors and BID Seek Graffiti Restitution
The LA Fashion District BID paints out thousands of graffiti tags every year at significant cost. On July 15, 2014 Operations Committee Members brought this problem and other issues to the attention of the Neighborhood Prosecutors who attended the meeting. As a result Neighborhood Prosecutors are now seeking restitution for graffiti removal costs on convictions. Operations Director Randall Tampa will attend court hearings in September to provide testimony on a pending case. BID/LAPD Partnership Helps Prevent Crime LAPD Officer Briggs and Lopez from Newton Division responded to a felony vandalism call from the BID Night Vehicle Patrol. Both Officers were very professional and helpful and they understood the importance of our vandalism arrest. BID Operations Director Randall Tampa commended the partnership between the LAPD and the LA Fashion District BID to Chief Beck and Captain Prokop.
Welcome Poppy + Rose!
 A new restaurant has opened in the Flower District on Wall Street. Poppy + Rose serves classic American comfort food, with a fresh take. Menu highlights include biscuits and gravy, a rib-tips breakfast burrito, buttermilk fried chicken and waffles, pulled pork hash, and eggs benedict. They are located at 765 Wall St. and open for breakfast and lunch.

New City and County Effort for Operation Healthy Streets in Skid RowA new City and County collaboration around Operation Healthy Streets in Skid Row was introduced during a press conference at the City Hall South Lawn on August 5, 2014.
Council Member Jose Huizar, District 14, has been working to coordinate City and County departments around the city's comprehensive cleanups that happen every other month in Skid Row. In an effort to go beyond street cleaning, the County will now be working alongside this effort to provide social, medical and mental health services to people who need and want it prior to the street cleanings that happen under Operation Healthy Streets.
Participating agencies and offices include Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas' Office, LAPD, County Department of Mental Health, County Department of Health Services, County Department of Public Health, City Attorney's Office, LAHSA, and Bureau of Sanitation.

Ace Hotel Receives LA Conservancy AwardBID Board Member Jason Deibler accepted an LA Conservancy Award for the Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles and The Theatre at Ace Hotel at the 33rd Annual Preservation Awards on July 31, 2014. The LA Conservancy recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of historic preservation. The awards are selected by an independent jury of leading experts in architecture, historic preservation, and community development.

On January 1, 2015 five seats on the LA Fashion District BID Board of Directors will be available in the upcoming 2014 Election. Invitations and instructions for becoming a candidate were mailed on August 6, 2014 to all property owners in the LA Fashion District. If you don't receive the invitation please call Lynn at the BID office at (213) 488-1153 ext. 713. Deadline to submit Intent of Candidacy is September 8, 2014.
The BID Board oversees Clean & Safe Services - Communications - Advocacy Programs and establishes the budget to ensure that every dollar of the BID budget is well spent.
