Downtown BIDs Weigh In on Council's Move to Legalize Street Vending
LA Fashion District BID Executive Director, Kent Smith is quoted in this week's issues of Downtown News along with several over downtown BID representatives. The BIDs weighed in with concerns on legalizing sidewalk vending in Downtown. A draft ordinance is expected to come back to City Council in August. You can read the full article here.

The June 13-19 issue of LA Weekly features a story on the Ace Hotel and how it has driven the gentrification of Downtown LA, specifically the revitalization of Broadway. The Ace helped recruit Acne, Aesop, Tanner Goods, Big Gay Ice Cream, and OAK NYC to name a few. You can read the full story here.
Angels of the City Awards - June 26th
Honor city staff members for exemplary work and support United Way of Los Angeles' Home for Good Initiative as this special event presented by Liner LLP & Central City Association. A $25 contribution is requested and proceeds go to the Home for Good Initiative. Click here for the event invitation. Utility Box Art Project Coming to the Fashion District
Project coordinators are working on expanding this utility box mural project throughout Council District 14. They are in the process of procuring artists' proposals for the Fashion District. Once proposals are received and proposed locations are identified, they will send us designs for review before installation - likely in a few weeks!
Welcome Jasmine
The BID Admin Office welcomed new Administrative Assistant Jasmine Yadidsion this week. Joanna Cheatham, the BID's former administrative assistant, moved out of town after 7 years of employment at the LA Fashion District. Jasmine was chosen for the job out of 335 applicants. Her education and background will be a great asset to the BID's marketing/social media department.
