It's Spring and Troop Camp-Out Time!

Tell us about what activities your Girl Scouts do during troop camp-outs. Send us your troop camping favorite activities and your story may be featured in the next S'MORE. If your story is showcased, you will also receive a GS Shop gift certificate. Send your submission to [email protected] by March 31.

 Finance Reports and Ending Balances

Troops are required to submit a Troop Finance Report by June 30. The form needs to include the May 31 bank statement.

New this year: Due to the change in product sales, troops are allowed to carry higher balances than previous years. This means that you will not have to spend all of your troop cookies proceeds by the end of the school year. You might consider saving some for next year's expenses or use part to pay for the 2014-2015 membership dues during Spring Re-registration.

Last Weekend of the Cookie Program = FUN!

Two more entry opportunities for "bling" your booth celebrating the theme, "Girl Scouts Change the World" and the 5 skills. Decorate the booth, submit your photo and encourage others to vote for your photo on Facebook. 1st - 3rd place each week and then an overall grand prize winner who will receive $250 and a troop pizza party. Submit your photo for this week by Thursday, March 27 and next week by Thursday, April 3 to [email protected]

Last week for the Twitter contest #gsksmobuy5boxes @gsksmo. A troop and customer winner again this week. If you have added your booth sale to SNAP or participating in a council booth sale, you will need to download the sign your troop can decorate and affix to a wooden stick. When a customer buys at least 5 boxes have them pose with the sign and tweet! You will both be entered into the contest.

Girl Scout Snore & Explore

NEW DATE! Saturday, May 3 beginning at 6:30 pm - 8:00 am Sunday May 4 at Kansas Children's Discovery Center in Topeka, Kansas. For Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts.

Do the Dome!  What is more fun than sleeping at the Discovery Center? Sleeping in a dome AT the Discovery Center!  A geodesic dome is an unusual system of triangular forms linked together to enclose a space. Geodesic domes are an interesting way to learn about engineering, math and science! Girls will investigate the science of shapes in this STEM skill-building program, and work in teams to build the biggest and best geodesic dome! Activities are designed to support the science and technology badge.

Evening also includes, animal encounter with the education staff, a night hike (bring a flashlight!) and a midnight movie and snack. Bring your sleeping bag and join the fun with activities and a complimentary continental breakfast. Learn more and register now.

Astronomy Program for Cadettes on April 12

Cadette Girl Scouts will learn about how the seasons determine the stars and planets you can see in the sky on April 12 at Camp Tongawood. Using tools, such as telescopes, as well as a little math to do some calculations, girls will get a great introduction in astronomy. The volunteers have been trained by NASA educators, and understand how to take very big ideas, and make them easy to understand.

This activity will be partially outdoors, so dress in layers.  If it is cloudy and impossible to look at the night sky, there are other ways to learn these concepts in the STEM outpost at Tongawood. Visit our website to register for this program or other STEM programs at camp
