SLH NICU Reunion
On Sunday, June 9, SLH hosted its annual NICU Reunion with nearly 250 people in attendance. Families had the opportunity to reunite with their NICU nurses, physicians, and other families they met during some of the toughest weeks of their lives. Kids enjoyed carnival games, face painting, a photo booth, live DJ, and more. This year marks the 30th anniversary of SLH's NICU Department and the NICU Reunion is the oldest reunion of its kind in the Kansas City area.

You are the cyber criminal's new target
Information security update
Most networks today are hard targets with strong firewalls - layers of security controls and security monitoring. Cyber criminals now have a new soft target - you.
This is why so many tricky spam and phishing emails are showing up in your inbox - you are the new doorway in. Cyber criminals want to trick you into clicking on their email attachments and links to launch hidden programs, or scam you into visiting compromised websites that will install malicious software on your computer.
What do cyber criminals want from you?
- Your username and passwords for your email, banking/financial services, UPS or FedEx accounts, or other online services (this is the No. 1 reason why it is important to have different passwords for different accounts!)
- Your identity to access online accounts such as email, instant messaging, Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn
- Your email to access other targets, including your global and personal address lists, contact lists, names, addresses, phone numbers, personal, and work email
- Your financial information, including credit card numbers and tax, investments, and retirement information
- Your virtual information, such as gaming information that may contain operating system license keys, gaming licenses, gaming rewards/money, and credit card numbers
We are now being viewed as if we are the computer to be tricked or compromised. And just like a computer, we need "patching" and "updates" in the form of awareness and education to help us recognize the latest tricks being used.
What can you do to protect yourself?
- Be aware that cyber criminals are targeting you
- Be suspicious if an email looks unusual
- Be careful what you click on
- Be aware that unsolicited queries for personal information are not legitimate
Knowing that you are a target can help you be more alert and careful in your online experience. Contact the Client Support Center at 816-251-9999 if you have questions.

Note of appreciation
I want to recognize and thank the wonderful group from Saint Luke's who volunteered Saturday, June 1, at Crawl for Cancer Kansas City in the Power and Light District.
Crawl for Cancer is a fundraising organization that originated in Kansas City ten years ago, and has grown nationwide providing support for cancer patients and advances in cancer treatments and outcomes. Volunteers tell me it was a blast to be part of this event, which also broke the Guinness World Record for Largest Pub Crawl!
Thank you to Barb Beckett, Raquel Boxum, Robin Bowman, Angie and Cap Fergen, Judy and Dave Junk, Sheila Sanders, Christine Studna, Marge Therio, friend of Saint Luke's Jamie Winans, and Dave Wiseman. I am very grateful to you all.
