LPS to Have Presence at Liberty Fall Festival This Weekend
Liberty Public Schools will again have a presence at the annual Liberty Fall Festival this weekend. The LPS booth will be located on the southeast corner of the Liberty square near the water fountains in front of City Hall. The Dr. Vibrations exhibit and art show, presented by the LPS Fine Arts Department, will return for another year, as well.  Come by and say hello to LPS students, staff, and administrators, and you might just come away with an apple!  See you there! 
Liberty High School Celebrates Homecoming Week
Blue Jay Liberty High School's Homecoming festivities started off this past Monday, and the fun continues through this Saturday, the 26th!  Click on There's No Place Like Homecoming, this year's theme, to access the 2015 Homecoming Newsletter, which details daily events. This is a great way for students to get involved with the school and make new friends!  (Reminder: Students who had wished to bring an out-of-school guest to the dance were to have submitted a guest registration form by 9/21. These forms were emailed to all students. Students will not be able to purchase a ticket for their guest without the approved registration form on file).
SOAR Award Nominations Now Being Accepted
Is there a Liberty Public Schools employee that has a made a huge difference for your child, family, or our community?  If so, we encourage you to nominate them to receive a SOAR (Service Over and Above the Rest) Award. This employee recognition program begins its 2nd year.  Each month, Dr. Tucker and other LPS leaders visit district buildings to personally present these awards.

Ridgeview Elementary Celebrates 60 Years at Tomorrow's Open House
Ridgeview Elementary School will be hosting a 60th Anniversary Open House tomorrow, Thursday, September 24, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the school.  Events and activities will include:
  • The Rockin' Roadrunners Choir, performing at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Student Ambassadors giving tours and sharing history of Ridgeview
  • Visit classrooms to see what a 21st century learning space looks like
  • Gallery walk of Ridgeview memorabilia
  • Snowie KC selling snow cones
  • Complimentary cupcakes and punch

LHS Pom & Cheer Clinic Rain Out Alternate Performance
Liberty High School's Pom and Cheer Clinic performance was canceled at last Friday's, September 18 football game due to bad weather. A courtesy call was made to all clinic participants informing them of the alternate performance at LHS this Friday, September 25, during the pre-game show.  Pre-game begins at 6:40 p.m. with the football game starting at 7 p.m.  Participants should meet their "Buddies" on the track near the left end zone at 6:30 p.m. We would still love for them to wear their clinic t-shirts, and we look forward to watching them perform on the field! If your child was a walk-in to the clinic, they may pick their t-shirt up at the front entrance to the football game.  
 
The Liberty Sapphires and LHS Cheerleaders thank you for your understanding.  We are excited to dance and cheer with your little ones at Friday night's varsity football game! Thank you for your support of our programs.

LSDF Gifts a Random Act of Kindness to the ECC
The Liberty School District Foundation is celebrating its 20th Anniversary!  As a part of that celebration, the Foundation will give 20 Random Acts of Kindness - 20 gifts of $100 - which will be given to each of Liberty's schools throughout the 2015-2016 school year. 
 
The very first Act of Kindness went to the Early Childhood Center who will use their gift to purchase materials to support Conscious Discipline in their early learning programs.  

Congratulations to the ECC! Be on the look out for future Random Acts of Kindness and the LSDF Kindness Crew!

LPS Youth Mentor Volunteer Program
The LPS Youth Mentor program is up and running again this year!  Thank you to all volunteers who have been, or currently are, serving. You have helped make a world of difference in the life of a child. Youth Mentors are volunteers who spend approximately one hour per week with a student and may:
  • Tutor a student
  • Have lunch with a student
  • Share special talents or career interests
  • Read with a student
  • Be a good friend who listens

Liberty North Counseling Center will be hosting their 2nd Annual College Fair on Tuesday, September 29, at LNHS from 6:30-8 pm. LMS Students Present The Canterbury Tales
Come and support our Liberty Middle School students as they present The Canterbury Tales or Geoffrey Chaucer's Flying CircusThis show blends the humor of Monty Python and Saturday Night Live into one fun-filled evening.  Enjoy the wacky comedy as a group of medieval villagers compete in a storytelling competition as they travel from London to Canterbury. These colorful characters will have you laughing outloud as their stories take a hilarious turn.
 
Performances are October 2 and 3 at 7 p.m. at the Liberty Performing Arts Theatre. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at showtix4u.com or from Liberty Middle School.

8th Annual Run. For the Kids Saturday, October 3
Join us on October 3 to run, walk, jog, or stroll in support of the Liberty School District Foundation! Proceeds raised from the run will provide funds to benefit the Foundation's core programs, including teacher grants that are available to all of Liberty's educators. In the 2014-2015 school year, the Foundation was able to fund $20,000 of grant projects to LPS teachers and buildings - all due to private donations and funds raised from events like the annual Run. For the Kids.
 
Run. For the Kids is also an opportunity to help a school earn up to $500! When registering, participants are allowed to select a school they would like to represent; the top three schools represented will earn $500, $350, or $150 (respectively).
 
This year, Run. For the Kids will offer a family-friendly environment to include Finish Line Festivities, Awards Announcements, and a free KIDS SUPER HERO RACE for runners 10 and under!  Click here for more information.

LNHS Cheer and Dance Kid Clinic
Join the Liberty North High School Cheer Squad and the Golden Girl Dance Team for the LNHS Cheer and Dance Clinic!
Participants: Students Grades K-5
Date of Clinic: Sunday, October 11
Time: Registration 12:30 pm * Clinic 1-4 p.m. 
Location: Liberty North High School Auxiliary Gym
Purpose: Clinic provides future LNHS cheerleaders and dancers the opportunity to learn cheers and dances. They will also get the chance to perform at halftime of a varsity football game!
Clinic Attire: Comfortable clothing, tennis shoes, water bottle
Performance: Halftime of October 15 varsity football game

Gather Up Your Legos
Do you have Lego pieces that aren't being used anymore?  We can help you! The Liberty Robotics Team, Liberty Robotics Foundation, and the Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Community Lego Collection from September 28-October 9. This collection is to help local schools as they implement K-5 Project Lead the Way LAUNCH, which engages students to become problem solvers and critical thinkers. Just drop off Lego pieces between the hours of 9 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday, at 1170 W. Kansas St., (Westowne) in Liberty.  The robotics team will also collect new and used Legos at all LHS & LNHS varsity home football games.
Lillian Schumacher to Host Harlem Wizards
Lillian Schumacher Elementary is bringing the Harlem Wizards to town to play a fun basketball game against our own Liberty District faculty and community leaders, The Liberty Underdogs! Join us for some fun on Thursday, October 8, at 7 pm, in the new Liberty High School fieldhouse. Players on The Liberty Underdogs team include: Mr. Gabriel, Mrs. Bright, Ms. Beaty, Ms. Townsend, Noah Simpson, Roger Stirtz, Mrs. Steenstra, Katie Lawson, Jennifer Corum, Ms. Adams, Mike Murphy, Chris Lucas, Jonalee Searcey, Deb Caywood, Claudia Howerton, Justin Kruse, Kyle Race, Cynthia Espy, Andy Smith, David Wratchford, and our referee will be Stephanie McGill.
 
Tickets may be purchased in advance for $10 General Admission, $17 Reserved Seating, and $25 Courtside Plus. Courtside Plus includes a 10-minute meet and greet with the Wizards in a private room before the game, a Wizards lanyard, a Wizards team poster, and seating right behind the Harlem Wizards players. General admission tickets will be $12 at the door.

Attention Artists and Makers of Crafts
Calling all artists and makers of great crafts - Heritage Middle School's Heritage Holiday Mart, is seeking vendors for a December shopping fair! Holiday Mart will take place December 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Heritage Middle School. New Volleyball League Opportunity
Listen up 3rd-7th graders!  Liberty Juniors is offering a volleyball league just for you!  This league provides skill training and develops fundamentals, while offering a game-like atmosphere. The league will meet at Liberty Middle School on Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:00. It is eight sessions long and begins October 20th. The cost for this league is $90, which includes a team t-shirt.  Deadline for registration is October 16th!  There are limited openings for this session; click here to complete the registration form, and turn it in as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, feel free to email Erica Bruggemann at ebruggemann@liberty.k12.mo.us.  
Apply for Liberty Parks and Rec Openings
Liberty Parks and Recreation currently has several jobs openings.  Anyone 16 years and older may apply to work in the concession stands at Fountain Bluff Sports Complex through the fall months. Anyone 18 and older may apply for a handful of different positions from Complex Supervisor at Fountain Bluff Sports Complex or Gym Supervisor at area school gyms. There are also opportunities to help out with our growing Bitty Sports and Camps programs.  For more information on these positions, visit the City of Liberty's website!
Mosaic Life Care September Workshop Tomorrow
Mosaic Life Care Center is excited to announce they are hosting a Careers in Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy Pipeline Workshop. The workshop will be held at Mosaic Life Care Shoal Creek location, off of 152 Hwy, on Thursday, September 24, from 6-8 pm. In an effort to make our Liberty Public Schools e-newsletter, QuickNews, a concise publication in which subscribers may read in timely fashion, district/community announcements will be advertised in the main QuickNews section for a maximum of two weeks.  After this period of time, announcements will be transferred to our QuickNews Bulletin Board, which is located on the LPS website provided at the link below. In addition, the Bulletin Board may include announcements not meeting the criteria to be placed in this publication.
