PFC Approves Spring Grants The PFC is proud to announce that they have approved Spring Grants for Teachers and Staff at Donlon. This year the PFC is even more grateful to be able to provide them as class sizes have increased and limited resources available. These grants were made possible by the various PFC fundraisers that have occurred to date. On behalf of the Donlon Parent Faculty Community, we would like to thank the Teachers and Staff for your dedication to our school and to our children. Your hard work is most appreciated. We recognize the time and effort you all put into creating a wonderful school for our children, where they can receive a positive and exceptional education. The PFC would also like to acknowledge Ms. Ceminsky for donating her Spring Grant to the music department allowing for the purchase of new risers. These risers are used by all students for various performances throughout the year. On behalf of the PFC and Music Department, thank you Ms. Ceminsky! |
PFC makes mid-year Library donation Mrs. Cloyd attended a recent PFC meeting and shared with everyone the interest in classes checking out non-fiction books, specifically books on biographys and photobiographies She shared with us the students' interests in these subjects, in addition to the loved chapter books. To keep material fresh and updated, a request for support of additional non-fiction books for our library was requested. These books cost between $15-$22 and with funds raised by the Donlon community we were able to supported this request with $1,000 towards 50 new books! |
PFC Shout Out The PFC would like to thank our Auction Committee for all the hard work they put in planning the auction. Not only was it a successful fundraiser, but it was also a ton of fun! Thank you Becka and Keri! |
New Equipment Purchases As we have indicated in previous articles, our classrooms are not fully equipped with the technological resources that are demanded in today's world of education. When Donlon utilizes technology like LCD projectors, document cameras and computers with Internet access, students are more engaged, more motivated, and more excited about learning. Over several years, the Donlon PFC has been able to install LCD Projectors and Document Cameras in our 3rd through 5th grade classrooms that integrate with teacher computers and replace outdated overhead projectors and transparencies. We are happy to announce that the Donlon PFC has approved funds to proceed forward with the purchase of new LCD Projectors and Document Cameras for our Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms. It is our goal to have this new equipment installed before the end of the current school year. Thanks to the many Donlon families who have supported our fundraising efforts so we could achieve this goal! If you have any questions, please contact PFC Technology Chair Michelle Lemus at chellelemus@comcast.net. Thank you! |

Fun Run 2013
Start collecting pledges! Donlon's 2nd Annual Fun Run is just around the corner. Pledge forms were sent home last week so students can start getting their pledges now. Pledges can be made per lap or as a flat donation. Ask friends, family, neighbors or co-workers. If each student raises at least $40, then we, as a school, could bring in over $32,000 to go toward classroom technology. Collecting pledges is not required to participate in the Fun Run, but every student who brings in any amount of pledges is qualified to participate in our raffle drawings. Prizes will be awarded to the student in each grade who raises the most amount of money for Donlon, and class prizes will be awarded to the class in each grade who raises the most money as well as the class in each grade who shows the most school spirit. For more information, check out our website at https://sites.google.com/site/donlonfunrun2013 |

Over the last year, the Traveling Trophy has been awarded to: Mrs. Cloyd, Mr. Horowitz, Ms. Simione, Mrs. Skoglund, Mrs. Neidle, Ms. Ceminsky, Mrs. Hanafee, Mrs. Thomas, Mr. Smith, Ms. Nelson, Ms. Taw This month's Traveling Trophy Winner went to Ruth Highstreet and Diana Boehmer in the office. Next nomination deadline is April 12. Attached is the form students can use to nominate a deserving staff member. |
