Downtown Boston BID 
Annual Meeting on Oct. 28th

The 2015 annual meeting of the Downtown Boston BID will take place at the Havas/Arnold Worldwide's Burnham Cafe in the Burnham Building (10 Summer St. 5th Floor) on Wednesday, Oct. 28th from 4 to 6 pm

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh will deliver the keynote address. The business portion of the meeting will occur from 4 to 5 pm. A cocktail reception to follow from 5 to 6 pm.

Tonight: Midtown Cultural District Residents' Association Meeting on Oct. 19th

The next monthly Midtown Cultural District Residents' Association (MCDRA) meeting is tonight, Monday, Oct. 19th at 7 pm at Suffolk University's Modern Theatre (525 Washington St.)

The agenda includes hearing from Ja'coall Bergstrom, owner of Nest Salon (53 Bromfield St.), and then opening the floor to meeting attendees to share ideas about what you would like to discuss at future meetings and the association moving forward. Click here to learn more about MCDRA. 
Metropolitan Area Planning Council 
Fall Meeting on Oct. 29th 

The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (60 Temple Place) is hosting its annual Fall Council Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 29th at the UMass Boston Campus Center. The meeting is from 9 am to noon

There will be lightning presentations on MAPC's work, including climate adaptation in Quincy, local transportation funding, connecting immigrant entrepreneurs in Framingham, lowering municipal energy rates and more. MPO elections, in which city and town officials will elect members to the Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will also occur. A continental breakfast will be served beginning at 8 am. Click here to register now.

'Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeier' Debuts 
Oct. 22nd at Boston Opera House

The Boston Ballet's "Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeir" is opening at the Boston Opera House on Oct. 22nd

The Boston Ballet is the first North American company to perform this iconic work, kicking off their season with a musical tour de force and full immersion into the dramatic world of movement and sound. Seventy-eight musicians from the Boston Ballet Orchestra join forces with premiere ensemble New World Chorale and international opera star Sarah Pelletier for a sensory experience unlike anything you've ever heard-or seen-before. Sign Your Dog Up Now for the Free
2nd Annual Doggone Halloween 
Costume Parade on Oct. 30th 

The BID is hosting its 2nd Annual Doggone Halloween Costume Parade on Friday, Oct. 30th at noon in Downtown Crossing (outside of Macy's). This is a free event, click here to sign your dog up. There will be prizes for all dogs, including a grand prize of a one-night stay (with you dog!) at Nine Zero Hotel!

WCVB's Danielle Vollmar will emcee this event for the second year in a row. It is being cosponsored by the MSPCA and the Nine Zero Hotel. There will be numerous vendors including Pawblo Picasso, Polka Dog Bakery, Lauren MacPetography, Roche Bros., Macy's and more. 
 
Pass the Torch for Women Party at Macy's on Oct. 22nd 

Macy's and Finish Line are joining forces with the Mentoring Women's Network to engage a new generation of of mentors in support of their movement to Pass the Torch for Women. There will be a special event at Macy's on Thursday, Oct. 22nd at 5:30 pm for people to Pass the Torch for Women. 

Join the party and take the pledge by stepping into the Mentoring Women's Network photo booth and sharing your photo on social media using #passtorch4women. The first 100 people to take the pledge will receive a $10 Macy's gift card. There will be drinks, sweets, and music. This is a free event.
Freedom Trail Lantern Tours 
October 22nd and 29th 

Experience the Freedom Trail in a new light -- after dark -- on the official Freedom Trail Lantern Tour. The next Lantern Tour is on Thursday, October 22nd at 7 pm leaving from the ArtsBoston Bostix booth at Faneuil Hall. 

Led by 18th-century costumed guides, you'll hear about fatal sword duels, the grave of the ruthless pirate, tales of scandalous murders and the hanging of convicted witches. The tour winds its way down the Freedom Trail visiting the Granary Burying Ground, King's Chapel Burying Ground and more. 

The tours are 90 minutes long and end at the Boston Common. The lantern tours will be offered on October 22nd and 29th. The cost is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors/students, $8 for children and the price includes a $1 donation to the Freedom Trail Foundation's Preservation Fund. Tickets may be purchased at the ArtsBoston Bostix booths at Faneuil Hall and Copley Square, the Boston Common Visitor Information Center, Cheers Retail Gift Shop at Faneuil Hall Marketplace and online by clicking here. Tickets are discounted when purchasing online.

Boston Asian American Film Festival at Paramount Center Oct. 22nd - 25th 

The Boston Asian American Film Festival is showing nine films at Emerson College's Paramount Center on Oct. 22 through Oct. 25th.

Scrumptious Pumpkin-based Drinks in Downtown Boston 

Throughout October, Ogawa Coffee (10 Milk St.) will top each cappuccino with Halloween-themed art (ghosts, jack o' lanterns) designed by Haruna Murayama, the 2010 World Latte Art Champion who relocated from Japan to train the shop's baristas. 

Through Oct. 
28th, customers must request the Halloween-themed latte art when ordering their cappuccino. From October 29-31, all cappuccinos will automatically have the Halloween latte art added. Latte art is provided at no additional cost.

Last week we featured pumpkin-based food in Downtown Boston. So this week we figure you need some pumpkin-based drinks to wash the food down.

Congratulations to Kathy MacNeil of Millennium Partners Being Elected Board President of Historic Boston Inc.  

The BID would like to congratulate Kathy MacNeil, principal of Millennium Partners, on being elected president of Historic Boston Inc. (HBI).  

MacNeil was welcomed during HBI's September meeting of its board of directors. MacNeil has served on the HBI Board of Directors for five years and was most recently its vice president.

"As HBI completes a new five-year strategic plan, Kathy's leadership and experience will be integral to advancing the new agenda," said HBI's Executive Director Kathy Kottaridis. "Kathy brings fresh perspective and enthusiasm to HBI's preservation mission."

MacNeil is a LEED Accredited Professional, has her Massachusetts Construction Supervisor's License and received a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from MIT's Center for Real Estate.
