New Fall Plantings in the BID!
What Happens to the BID's Old Plants?
Three R's: Recycle, Replace and Re-purpose

The BID's fall plantings debuted last week with colorful mums and tropical crotons, below, across the downtown area. They highlight autumn colors of dark reds and oranges.

The fall plantings replaced our summer plants, below, of begonias, potato ivy and more. A lot of people ask us what happens with the summer plants. At the BID we practice the Three R's when it comes to our plants: Recycle, Replace and Re-purpose. Recycle -- we will compost our plants when they are removed due to weather or if they've passed. Replace -- like we did with the summer and fall plantings, but we also have some extra plants that we take care of to replace ones that don't make it through their season. Re-purpose -- when possible we like to reuse plants in different locations.

The BID takes great pride in keeping the Downtown Boston area clean and beautiful. Plantings are a simple way to add beauty to an area. We love our plants and we hope you do, too!
