Urban Agriculture Community Forum
The urban farming phenomenon continues to build momentum, and to help guide it, the BRA is hosting a community forum with the Mayor's Urban Agriculture Working Group. The event will address the relevant guidelines from Zoning Code Article 89--commercial farms, aquaculture, composting, soil safety, backyard coops and apiaries, and more. This event will specifically consider urban farming in downtown neighborhoods: Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Downtown Crossing, Chinatown, North End, West End, and Charlestown. "On Point" Live At Paramount Center
You're live on the air! Next Thursday, June 6th, the Paramount Center will host a unique, behind-the-scenes experience: a live production of WBUR's "On Point," starring Tom Ashbrook.
The show taping will feature best-selling author and New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman, author of the "How To Cook Everything" The event will also showcase dishes prepared chefs Joanne Chang (Myers & Chang, Flour) and Chris Douglass (Ashmont Grill, Tavolo). Yummy!

Kevin James At The Orpheum Theatre
The Orpheum Theatre closes out its spring season this Friday, May 31st, with a performance by Emmy Award-winning actor and comedian Kevin James.
Star of CBS' former mega-hit sitcoms The King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond, James recently provided a voice for the animated movie Hotel Transylvania. Tickets are still available, but going fast.

"College 2.0" Event At Modern Theatre
The development of online-based college courses is having an amazing impact on higher education. Next Tuesday, June 4th, the Modern Theatre will host "College 2.0: The New Face of Higher Education," a conversation about online courses and other phenomena influencing higher education.
Hosted by Kara Miller, of WGBH's "Innovation Hub," the event will feature panelists Anant Agarwal, Peter Hopkins, Eric Mazur, and Richard Miller. Suffolk University president James McCarthy will deliver opening remarks.

Classic Car On Boston Common: Preview Of 2013 Boston Cup
The legendary vehicle--a 1955 Lincoln Futura--was customized by George Barris in 1965 in order to appear on the classic 1960s TV show.
The second-annual Boston Cup Classic Car Show is set to take place on Boston Common on Sunday, September 22nd, part of the second-annual Celebrate Downtown Boston Week.

Classic Car On Summer Street: Big Sisters Mustang Give-Away
Who wants to win a 2014 Ford Mustang GT convertible? The Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, as part of its 25th anniversary fundraising raffle, is giving one away on Wednesday, July 31st, at 1 pm, on the 100 Summer Street plaza. Big Sister staffers will be at the plaza with the Mustang on Monday, June 3rd, selling tickets to the raffle. The Mustang will appear on the 100 Summer Street plaza once a week through July 31st; please visit here for the schedule of appearances. |
