SCHOOL NEWS
A degree in math is required for this challenge! Our new families tackled the challenge of braiding a six stringed challah at our New Parent Tea today. Thanks to Tamar Bakonyi and Leanne Coleman for organizing and to Ella and Marat Dreyshner of ikosherbake.com for supplying the challah dough and supporting us through the braiding process. The Dreyshner's baked cooked, all BCK, are now available at Superstore on Main Street!
At Monday night's AGM, we bid farewell to Joel Guralnick (at right; who served on VTT's board for 9 years), Joel Greensite, Jessica Jaiven and Susan Quig. We also thanked the venerable Sue Hector (pictured at left with co-President, Bill Schonburn) who stepped down as President for the second time in 12 years! Joining the VTT Board, we gratefully welcome: Sharon McNamara, Alissa Rogachevsky, Lilly Kazaz, Bo Rothstein and Samantha Rossman. All 19 Board members freely give of their valuable time and expertise to ensure a school of academic and programmatic excellence. Thank you to all!
A group of Grade 3 boys are determined to dig a canal in the sandbox, fill it with water and then race homemade boats. Now that the sandbox is covered, flushing it with water is proving much more challenging!
Our faculty know how important student photos are to families so they go the extra mile to ensure your children look their best for photo day.
Russ Klein, Head of School at King David High School, met with our faculty earlier this week to give our intermediate teachers a status update on the school. As our seventh graders prepare for high school, we always appreciate building on the relationship with have with KDHS to ensure Jewish continuity in our community. Our teachers were pleasantly surprised to learn that Mr. Klein is a VTT alum!
Kindergarten 2 students developed a heightened appreciation for fresh herbs and vegetables when VTT parent Anchana Gelfand showed off her culinary skills and taught the students how to make a homemade Thai curry. Can you say อร่อย? (Delicious!)
The covered sandbox is attracting many more students of all ages to this play space. Rain or shine, the opportunity to explore and create beckons! Every week, artist Riba Kalb works with our preschool 3 & 4 students to create original masterpieces. Riba also teaches children at Arts Umbrella.
