VANCOUVER TALMUD TORAH IS KEEPING IT TOGETHER TOO!
together
Shabbat came a little early to VTT this week! Due to today's Pro-D Day, our students gathered in the gym yesterday to celebrate in unity with the worldwide "Keeping It Together" movement. The assemblies benefited from musical accompaniment by Josh Niehaus and an inspiring drosh from Rabbi Rosenblatt. Special thanks to Shoshi Burton for organizing two terrific gatherings and to the Ohel Ya'akov Community Kollel for supplying the contents of the lovely Shabbat bags. Josh Switzer, Oren Mathews and Keren Katz were wonderful student MCs.

Several VTT students have signed on to keep Shabbat this weekend. Watch the above video to hear their reasons for embracing a sacred day of rest.

challah bake

Dozens of VTT families participated in the Great Challah Bake at the JCC last night. With over 400 (primarily women) in attendance, the room was abuzz with energy and enthusiasm! Nevertheless, it's amazing everyone managed to make, knead and braid their own personal challah. Similar "braid-a-thons" took place around the world. In Buenos Aires, Argentina, for example, 4,500 eager participants came to braid dough!

If Everbody Did
If Everbody Did

Grade Three students created their own wonderful version of the popular children's book, "If Everybody Did" to drive home the point of the imperative of taking responsibility for ourselves and for each other. Click on the image above as it is a much watch!

SHONOT/ODDS 'N ENDS

cahana

Have you heard of Rabbi Cahana of Temple Beth El in Montreal? He suffered a massive stroke in his brain stem in 2011 leaving him with "locked in syndrome" with only the ability to blink his eyelids.
Read his fascinating story here.
