In the April 30 newsletter, we mentioned the impacts of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) on the State of Florida and how the electronic system saved Florida employers over $200 Million. We have specific regional numbers of the WOTC's impact in Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Overall, 7,868 certifications for a total impact of approximately $18,883,200, based on an average $2,400 tax credit per certification. Since 2010, when the electronic WOTC system launched, there were 4,610 certifications issued in Manatee County and 3,258 certifications issued in Sarasota County.
