The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Schools of Nursing, Medicine and Dentistry are collaborating through a shared clinic that will help identify and address chronic health conditions among patients who receive dental care at VCU.
VCU Neighborhood Partners Practice will use oral health visits as an "on-ramp" to identify and manage other major diseases, like heart disease and diabetes, and will provide patients with services such as chronic disease screenings, medication counseling and comprehensive physicals. This partnership is the first of its kind at an academic center in Virginia and is funded through a partnership with Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc.
