Thanks for Helping Our Kids!

Community support for Grandview Kids is growing.

Minacs who supports Grandview through employee giving and dress down days for the month of February in 2012 and again in 2013 wanted to say thanks for the work being done for kids with special needs in the Durham Region.

Here, special Grandview friend Grant says he is pleased with the sense of satisfaction that the employees have gotten in return for giving back  to the community.

As part of their desire to give back, Minacs employees also volunteered at the Rodman's Day for Grandview Kids.

Our Kids put a smile on the faces of representatives of the Durham Region Association of Realtors (DRAR) who were eager to meet them.  They DRAR is ecstatic about the great work being done in the region for kids with special needs.
  Fun, family and fantasy!
It was a goose bump moment when Our Kid, Andrew received a standing ovation as he walked on to the ice on Family Day to drop the puck for the first staging of the Rodman's Family Day with the Oshawa Generals. Billed as Rodman's goes LOONIE for Grandview kids, the event had the GM Centre packed to capacity.

It was especially meaningful, as the families watching the Oshawa Generals on home ice also got the chance to support local children with special needs and disabilities, through donations.

Andrew at 9 years old has already packed over a lifetime of medical challenges into his young life. Born 14 weeks too soon, doctors thought he would never walk, talk or feed himself. It was therefore a great example of the work Grandview does to have him participate in this way. Way to go Andrew!

Another highlight of the day was the intermission sledge hockey game played by the Durham Steelhawks team, comprising Grandview Kids.  They took to the ice with such passion that left the audience gasping in appreciation.

Rodman's will again partner with the Oshawa Generals to treat families to an exciting day on Family Day in 2014.

The Dick Family and the Oshawa Generals team represented by Deke were on hand to make more Grandview kids smile when they handed over the cheque. The kids had the best time giving Deke high fives.

"We are happy that our family could have been a part of this event. For us it was easy to get behind the life changing work that Grandview does. There is so much we can do in the communities where we live and work. We are a part of this community and we are thrilled to play our part," says Kirk Dick, President of Rodman's.
