By now you should have heard Isabella's story. She is learning to push up on her elbows and the hope is that she will be able to sit independently.

Isabella's story is a happy one, filled with positive outcomes and many milestones, though it didn't start out that way.

Isabella was not expected to see much past her second birthday. Though her parents - Gillian and Amrall knew something was amiss, the diagnosis when it finally came was terrifying - Isabella had lissencephaly or "smooth brain". The research revealed that this baby girl was expected to suffer from seizures, feeding issues and a "failure to thrive".

"We believe in Grandview and the people who make it possible," says Gillian.

Now at age 6, Isabella has made significant improvements since coming to Grandview.

Gillian says: "I never had these expectations and now everything Isabella does is a bonus."

Isabella is much happier and can even roll over. She is now more tolerant of noise and new people, and is even working on communicating using assistive technology.
