New EHRC Membership Model Launched! We need your support to keep our lights on to serve you, our stakeholders.EHRC is very pleased to announce the launch of the new membership model at the National Conference on November 6th.
Our membership model provides our stakeholders with a valuable and unique opportunity to invest in Canada's electricity workforce, and be seen as a leader in the development of strategies to collectively meet our workforce planning needs.
As part of the new economic reality, the EHRC Board looked at how we could continue to keep our own lights on, in order to serve you, our stakeholders, and continue to produce the products and services you have told us are so valuable.
EHRC and our partners share a common vision; we believe a strong, competitive Canadian electricity economy is built on the strength of its people. EHRC's intelligence, tools, products, services and in-depth labour market research are developed to support and enhance existing capacity and skills while attracting new talent into Canada's electricity industry. We need your support to realize this vision. Click the button below to learn more.

EHRC Releases Findings from Renewing Futures - a National Renewable Electricity Human Resources Research Project
The findings indicate strong growth in future employment opportunities in Canada's renewable electricity workforce and calls for national human resource collaboration amongst industry participants to meet future labour requirements.
|
The Renewing Futures research and consultation determined that immediate action is required. EHRC, along with an industry led steering committee, defined 12 strategic actions that will assist in building a qualified labour market to meet employer's needs for the next 10 years. The research provides crucial data on the impact of renewable electricity growth on labour markets and key occupations across the country. The resulting human resources report and strategic plan covers training programs, regulations and government policies, certification, interprovincial mobility, retirements, retention and sector specific specializations. And a technology report that identifies future growth in renewable electricity operations and development, describing the most likely technologies to be installed across the sectors in each Province. This two year research project included over 400 representatives from wind, solar, bioenergy, geothermal, marine/tidal, small and large hydro, as well as, transmission, storage and distribution industries. Bridging the Gap Video Series Launched at EHRC Conference - Celebrating Women in our Workforce!
EHRC is excited to announce the recent launch of our new video series "Bridging the Gap" which highlights various industry occupations and the women who work in them. This series targets women who may be considering the electricity and renewable energy industry and will help to overcome the misperception that the industry is for men only. Officially launched at EHRC's conference in November, we also heard from a panel of great women speaking about a variety of topics around the recruitment and retention of women and the electricity industry. Thank you to all who attended and participated in the session. The full video series can be viewed at www.electricityhr.ca/bridgingthegap. As part of this program, EHRC sponsored two wonderful events: The Skills Work! For Women Networking Dinner in Toronto on November 21st and the Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science & Technology (WISEST) Conference in Edmonton on November 23rd. At these events, mentors and EHRC staff spoke to young women to educate and inspire them about working in our industry.
We are still looking to speak with young women in high school to help round out our research, which will be released next Spring. If you know someone who might be interested, please contact joseph@electricityhr.ca. Thank you to the organizations and women who participated in our videos and to the project funders: Alberta's Enterprise and Advanced Education Department, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Hydro One, Ontario Power Generation, and Engineers Canada.
