Greetings from the American Birkebeiner!
Dear Friends -
The news story of the Northland is again the tale of Telemark. It was sold at a sheriff's auction yesterday to a "yet to be indentified" group. We eagerly await a chance to get some time together and are ready to start the planning for the future. While we have a contract in place for this year's race, we are ready to solidify a permanent, long-term agreement. Through a communication they reached out to us and said they are excited to work with the regional events to make sure they are successful for years to come. Stay tuned to our Birkie News on the Birkie.com home page and Birkie Facebook for more info in coming days.

On October 8, the 2014 Birkie/Korte reached its registration cap - see press release. While we'd love to have more skiers, we are currently at our limit with transportation, food stop infrastructure, housing and finish line support. While we work daily to accommodate greater participation through improvements, we also want to guarantee a positive, safe experience for all participants who are registered - thus the cap. There are still a few Birkie slots available through our "skiers for cures" partner JDRF, as well as some space in the 12K Prince Hakkon. Alternatively, if you can make it and aren't racing, we need over 2,000 volunteers to make the event happen!! Experiencing the event from the support side is always fun and rewarding- we'd love to have your help!
Please don't hesitate to drop me a line if there is anything I can help you with--I can always be reached at ben.popp@birkie.com.
Get Out & Go!
