Art Appreciation 101 Moved to May 21
|
Art Historian Jeff Mishur will offer an introduction to the appreciation of art in a slide lecture on Thursday, May 21, 7-8:30 p.m. He'll demonstrate how an artwork is "built" out of colors, lines, and similar visual components, and discuss basic design principles. Register here.

An Afternoon with Elizabeth Berg

New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Berg will visit IPPL to talk about her newest novel, The Dream Lover, and sign copies on Sunday, May 17, 2-3:30 p.m. Copies of the book will be sold at the library on the day of the event by Barbara's Bookstore of Burr Ridge. Register here.

Seed Library Opens April 18

Next week, we will open a new library at IPPL- our Seed Library! IPPL members will be able to borrow seeds from our Seed Library to
grow at home. The Seed Library will be located in the Kids & Teens department, but seeds will be available to patrons of all ages. The Indian Prairie Seed Library is sponsored by Pick. at Garden Patch Farms.
Other Spring Gardening Programs:
Community Seed Swap Sat., April 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring seeds to donate or trade. All varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers are welcome. Get a free tomato starter plant, purchase a live butterfly garden, enjoy a special storytime, and paint a planter in the Wouldshop. Fun for all ages! Register here. Family Gardening with Pick. Wed., May 6, 7 p.m. How do plants grow? What plants grow best in our part of Illinois? Learn the answers to these questions and more from the farmers at Pick. at Garden Patch Farms. Have you heard? Our online catalog will have a new look and new features next Tuesday, April 14!
Our catalog is provided by SWAN, a network of 77 local libraries offering more than 8 million items, and the new catalog is part of SWAN's transition to a new software system.

IPPL is designing a library mascot, and we want your ideas! Our mascot will be called an "IPPLpotamus" (pronounced ip-ul-pot-uh-muh s), but what does an IPPLpotamus look like? Help us decide! Submit ideas, drawings, and/or a list of characteristics to the Kids & Teens Ask Us Desk by April 15, and watch for the IPPLpotamus this summer!
