Our Helpful Holiday (and Everyday!)
Balancing Act
The holidays are upon us and the year for power tips is coming to a close. I hope your golfing year was filled with fun and excitement along with lower scores, the bottom line.
Before we get to next month's year-end review, let me introduce my favorite three balance exercises that follow the theme of our October tip on balance. Please remember all newsletters are archived on our website and like us on Facebook to see the tips in action!
As I stated in October, "Swing the club as fast as you can for power, BUT you must maintain balance, or it will be a loss of power!" Balance was clearly defined last month so we will get right to the balance exercises.
Kneeling on the Physio Ball
This is your glute, belly and core stabilizer as well as my personal favorite! At first you may need a partner or a chair to hold onto. If you attend a gym regularly, have a trainer demonstrate. 30 seconds to 1 minute daily is all you need. Be careful!!

Hitting Balls Standing on One Leg
Now I know some of you are saying, "Ted, it is hard enough to hit a golf ball standing on 2 legs!" I understand! But this is simply an awesome golf exercise to enhance your balance. (Do 3 to 5 shots on each leg then switch)
The Noodle Test
If you know you have a tendency to lose your balance in your golf swing then grab a pool noodle for your next range session. Simply place the noodle on the ground and stand with the arches of your feet on the noodle. If
you follow th e newsletters, the October tip hinted that the key for power through balance is keeping your weight evenly distributed between your toes and the heels while shifting
your weight. (This is a very popular Boditrak exercise!) If balance is your menace then the noodle needs to be a part of each and every range session for quite a while where 25% of the golf balls you hit should be done standing on the noodle.
