First Street access to HSOY continues to be blocked

Be advised of the following detours to HSOY access: First Street has been blocked just east of Figueroa Avenue. Access to HSOY is limited to Avenue C. Furthermore, access to Avenue C from 5th Street has been blocked. We will pass along further information as soon as it becomes available. Thank you.

In October, the Goodsearch toolbar is where it's at.

Don't spend another dime online until you've installed the Goodsearch t oolbar.  Goodsearch is holding an exciting contest in October but first an introduction to what the Goodsearch toolbar is.

You can make serious money for us every time you search or shop online with the HSOY-customized  Goodsearch toolbar. So far, we've pocketed over $2,000 in the last two and half years or so and $1,000+ this year alone.
(see bottom of article for the link to install it.)
Goodsearch toolbar
How much are you going to spend on Christmas gifts this year? Although the statistics show that the average American spends well over $600 and more and more of that money is being spent online.

Going home for the holidays? Make the best of those expensive airfares by letting us have a chunk of it.

If we get 1,000 people to install the toolbar and make $200 worth of purchases at participating stores with an average kickback of 2%, that would be $4,000 just like that.

As the infomercials say, "But wait! There's more..."

GoodSearch.com will give an extra $1,000 to each of the five organizations that have the most toolbar downloads (and $100 to each of the first 100 charities to reach 100 downloads!)  during the month of October. This contest begins 9 a.m. local time, Friday, October 1st.

Download the toolbar at 9:01 a.m. on Friday, October 1st..

Holly finds forever on the Rescue Express

We will be sending our 1,500th dog to rescue tomorrow. If you've read our newsletter or follow us on Facebook or even read the paper, you are no doubt aware of our highly successful rescue efforts to get as many of our little guys out of Yuma and into larger metros.  And while we wave good bye to them when the Rescue Express leaves the shelter, their journey has just begun. Westie Rescue of Arizona recently sent Loma Clark, our Rescue Coordinator, a very heartwarming success story.

"This gentleman is 80 years old. He is very active and takes care of his wife who has Alzheimer's. She doesn't talk and he had just lost a Westie after 17 years of companionship. He was very distraught, as his Westie was the only one he had to talk to.

When we took Holly over to him, he was standing outside in the heat waiting for us with his arms open. Holly quickly went into his arms and smothered him with kisses.
As you can see, both he and Holly have huge smiles on their faces.  It always makes me so happy to see the beautiful smiles on the dog's faces, too.  They know it's going to be their furever home.

He's already taken her for walks and she just prances down the road beside him.  He is thrilled. You've made two people very happy and, yes, Rescue does work.

Jenny

JennyThis is Jenny, one of our media pets for the week. She's a spayed shepherd mix around one year old. Despite what it may look like, we did not Photoshop a German Shepherd head onto a Chihuahua body.   She is most likely a dwarf shepherd or mixed with a shorter built dog. She may be a compact dog but don't let that fool you, she's got plenty of torque.
Adoption Success Story

Cat 1Dear HSOY,

We are so happy with Nova, she brings entertainment and love into our home. She sleeps in between us in the bed. She loves attention. While I am doing something at my desk, she'll just jump up in my lap and stay until I get up. We feel lucky that we helped Nova and she helped my boyfriend become a cat lover. Here are some of Nova's pictures in her new home.
