      Update!!

Sebastian
In your last email we told you about how HSL cared for
little Sebastian after he was abandoned.

Oscar and Amber         Oscar in New Home

Well, he now has a forever home, after traveling to the Northeast on our last transport.
His new family renamed him Oscar.  He is pictured above with Amber, a member of his new family.
They tell us that he is settling in wonderfully and they already love him very much!

A few weeks ago, we told you about the increase in cruelty
and neglect complaints that our group was experiencing.  We appealed to you to help us raise $
10,000, which was needed
to help us respond to several urgent calls for assistance.

Thank you so much to all of you who could help us
at that time.  So far, we've raised $6,069 towards our goal.

Here are some articles that let you know how your donations are used:

Tripper
A negligent horse owner in Thibodaux finally surrendered his
starving colt.  "Tripper" is in foster care, and he will be put
up for adoption as soon as he has gained some weight.

The reports of cruelty and neglect continue to come in,
and we need to be ready to meet the extra demand
for veterinary and medical supplies, food and transport
 for these animals.

Please won't you help us raise the additional $3,900
needed to help us cover the many unanticipated
costs of the recent upsurge in cruelty cases?

Transport to New Homes Almost Ready to Roll Again!!

Here are three of our lucky animals who will be in our next transport to new homes
in the northeast.  As soon as we can secure the necessary funding, Johnna Harris,
our
Animal Services Director, has between 25 and 30 dogs and puppies that are ready to go!

Donations will also be needed to help fund animal transports in the coming summer months.
It is frustrating, and heartbreaking, to have homes waiting for adoptable animals and not have
the funding to make the trips.  While we understand that many groups are also asking for
support in these difficult financial times, we must keep asking, too.  We know the lives that are
saved by taking these animals out of Louisiana. We also know that our friends around the
country have never let us down, and we are so very grateful for that!
