Importance of Voter Registration Status!

Dear Community Member,

I am writing to urge you to check your voter registration status. Because of recent policy changes, many people think they are registered voters or believe they will receive an absentee ballot, and they are incorrect. Just last week the Denver Post wrote about a former State Senator who was incorrectly informed that she was not registered to vote. It takes only a few moments to check your status, but the deadline, Oct 9, is only 13 days away.

Please share this information widely and encourage everyone you know to check their voter registration status.

Sincerely,

Aicila

Executive Director, Out Boulder

Senator Steadman's Partner, Dave Misner, Remembered at Monday Memorial

We at Out Boulder are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Dave Misner, Senator Pat Steadman's partner. Senator Steadman has worked for years for relationship recognition in the state of Colorado, with Dave's ongoing and Steadman Dave Misener seemingly tireless support. Rep. Mark Ferradino commented: Dave and Pat's fight [against cancer] was more public than what many committed couples experience. And while their relationship and love was cherished by so many people, Dave's struggle is also a stark reminder that our state does not provide all committed couples with adequate and equal protections. That fact is especially apparent when loving families like Dave and Pat's are faced with immense challenges.

There was a lovely memorial service held Monday, Sept 24, attended by hundreds of mourners. Read More

Outwrite: A Queer Writer's Workshop - Starting October 3

Beginning Oct. 3rd and meeting Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30pm until Nov. 28th at the Naropa University Student Center, join us for a workshop for GLBT writers and allies to write with purpose and community. Writing exercises free us to think of our work in different ways and gain feedback from our peers. The workshop will be discussing work from contemporary queer poets/authors such as CA Conrad, Akilah Oliver, Margaret Randall, Stephen Motika, and Andrea Gibson.  Writing Workshop Naropa University GLBT Gay Lesbian Transgender Bisexual Queer Allies

Community is created by bringing in works by poets/authors we enjoy and group involvement in contemplative writing exercises. This will also provide the opportunity to share our own work with peers for collaborative feedback. You are encouraged to produce work of any type or genre as relates your own manifestation of expression. This workshop is a safe place to discuss and work with any of these modalities in the context of our artistic work, in a collaborative and queer-identified space. More info.
