COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Volunteer Mauricio Yabar & SexAware
|
|---|

Maurcio will be leading a SexAware workshop on Tuesday, August 28. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SEXAWARE: An educational initiative to promote sexuality awareness, honest communication, and peer support - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Here is more about him, in his words: I am a witty, mischievous, anxious, and hard working a*hole with tons of love to give and the attention span of a fly. I was born and raised in South America, but I was socialized in North Jersey; never underestimate this combination, my homosexual and non-homosexual friends! I have always been extremely interested in exploring sexuality. My environment never made that easy, but I eventually found my way into the fascinating world of sex! I went to college in NJ and earned a bachelors degree in Psychology with minors in Health and Sociology. Right after college, I moved to Philadelphia to pursue Masters degrees in Clinical Social Work and Human Sexuality. I recently obtained my Masters from Widener University, the only accredited institution in the country for Sexology studies [just saying]. After 3 years of sexuality education, vodka, clinical internships, and amazing queer experiences, I decided to move to Colorado to continue doing the work I love so much. Read More!

LGBT Book Drive for Uganda EXTENDED!
|
|---|
Our book drive for Sexual Minorities Uganda Group (SMUG) has been extended! We will continue to accept books through September 16. You can drop off your donations of LGBT books at the pridehouse, Dave Ensign's house, or on September 16 at Boulder Pridefest.
Please join us in a book drive to populate SMUG's library by donating your used books on LGBT subjects. Your books can go from gathering dust to making a huge difference in the lives of Ugandans on the front lines of the battle for acceptance. More info.

Trans & Genderqueer Support Group - Wednesdays |
|---|
Boulder Trans and Genderqueer Support (BTGS) offers support group meetings and social fun for people of all ages who identify as transgender and/or identify anywhere within the gender variant spectrum/sphere/torus. Our support meetings emphasize respect for peoples' experience in all types of gender variant identities, including genderqueer, third gender, trans women, trans men, trans masculine/feminine, bi-gender, genderfluid, intersex, and of course anyone questioning/deciphering their gender identity. For the safety and comfort of our group members, our meetings are not currently open to SOFFAs (significant others, family, family, friends or allies of trans and genderqueer folks). The group is consciously welcoming to gender variant people of color and persons with disabilities and we strive to build and maintain an anti-oppressive, inclusive group culture. Please come if you want support in your experience, you want to hear from others about their experience, or maybe you just want to spend time in a group of people that is accepting of you as you are. Meet at the Pridehouse on Wedsnesdays at 7pm. More info.

SexAware Workshop - Aug. 28
|
|---|
SEXAWARE: An educational initiative to promote sexuality awareness, honest communication, and peer support
Please join SexAware and Mauricio Yabar for a FREE, fun and explorative workshop about gender and sexual orientation. This workshop will examine the complexities of gender and sexual orientation. We will look at how society perceives gender, particularly what expectations exist around gender roles. The workshop will also explore "nature vs. nurture" ideas, engaging participants in friendly debates. This will be an interactive educational experience in which participants will be encouraged to contribute by sharing their ideas, asking questions, and exploring their personal experiences in a safe, supportive, judgment-free space. Everyone is welcomed to attend!
Remember this event is offered free of charge; however if you choose to donate any amount, your contribution will go to Out Boulder. More info.
