Robert Sinskey

continues to make wines the way we love them, year-in and year-out. The latest release of his beautiful Aries Pinot Noir perfectly encompasses the aforementioned ideal. No cellar tricks, no nonsense, no smoke & mirrors...just real and fine tuned wines that say "California" but also say "harmony". For I don't believe I've ever tasted a wine (and I have tasted just about everything he's made in the last eight years) that has not been harmonious in its levels of fruit, acid and tannin. Breaking these wines into components doesn't do them justice, however. For they are works of art and as such, deserve to be appreciated as a complete entity.

Sinskey is also a great winery to visit - their commitment to making wines that are natural, pure and expressive is only outdone by their love of food. Robs' wife Maria is a professional Chef who has worked all over the world including several Michelin-Starred restaurants and is a published author with multiple Cookbooks. Every time we visit there are treats coming out of the kitchen, prepared with the same emphasis on natural, pure ingredients as their lovely wines. 2009 Robert Sinskey Pinot Noir "Aries" Los Carneros

ORGANIC

This one is real simple...organically grown grapes from younger vines, all estate owned in Carneros on the Napa side and the master crafting of winemaker Jeff Virnig. But the most important part is that this is brilliant young Pinot that stays true to the varietal characteristics with cherry tones, floral lilac lifted aromas, bits of earth and a dollop of baking spice. The 2009 is a dynamite vintage for Sinskey; coaxing the fruit expression to its fullest potential and retaining the top hallmark of all Sinskey wines...balance! Ready to drink now but certainly with the ability to stand up to cellar conditions with ease, enjoy this delectable Pinot Noir now through 2016!
