January 1, 2010 - has a nice
ring to it don't you think! I love
New Year's Day. It offers a brand
new year and a brand new slate wiped clean by the gift of Christ the newborn
King.
"In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the
beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not
one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the
life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the
darkness did not overcome it . . . The true light, which enlightens everyone,
was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being
through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and
his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in
his name, he gave power to become children of God . . . the Word became flesh
and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a Father's only
Son, full of grace and truth."
An upbeat word for a
downbeat world. In C. S. Lewis'
words, we live in a God-invaded world. And where God is, there is hope. This does not mean we live in a perfect
world, but it does mean that our world is never beyond hope. Where God is,
there is the possibility of renewal. But where is hope to be found? It is to be found right here in this
faith community. Hope is found in
the body of Christ - in each of you!
As long as there are
disciples serving with the heart of Christ, there is hope for the world. The question
you and I need to ask ourselves is, are we doing our part? Will we be life changers in 2010? How will we allow Christ to live and
serve through each of us? My
hope and prayer for each of you is that you will spend quiet time with God
giving Him the opportunity to work in and through you and to show you the
perfect plan He has for you in 2010!
I can't wait to see what He has in store for the families of TWUMC and
those we serve this year.

Dallas Theological Seminary. Angela is also a wife, a mother and an
ordinary woman.
The Woodlands United Methodist Church is hosting Angela Thomas on February 26 - 27, 2010 for two incredible

 New! Pick Up Sports
Each of our pick-up sports are a chance to provide students
and adults a chance to connect with God through the act of physical activity.
So whether you are an experienced athlete or someone who wants to learn a new
sport, all are welcome and encouraged to come and have a good time. Not only
will you have a chance to play your favorite sports but you also get a chance
to be a part of an awesome community of people and develop new friendships.
Ultimate Frisbee
- Monday nights @ 7. There is a
growing group of us that have been meeting all fall and there are a couple of
experienced players that are helping to teach some of the newer players. This will pick back up in the Spring.
Volleyball - Tuesday
nights @ 7. This group has been meeting now for almost a year, during the
warm months we play on the sand courts outside The Loft and during the cold
months we play in the Main Building Gym.
Basketball - Thursday
nights @ 7. This is a new sport we have added for 2010. We are starting play on Thursday January 7th
2010.
Fishing - Saturdays.
This is another new sport we have just added. The group will start to meet in January 2010 and will meet a couple times
each month on Saturdays. In addition there will be spontaneous meetings that
take place during the week that the leaders may do. To get information on this

First Place 4 Health 
First Place 4 Health is a Christ based program for
those who struggle with losing a few pounds to those who battle obesity. We
invite you to discover a complete Christ-centered weight loss and healthy
