The Easter Story Cookie Recipe
|
We would like to wish each of you a very Blessed Easter. Enjoy this time with your family. Here is an Easter
Story Cookie Recipe that you might want to try. The recipe should be made the evening before Easter.
You need: 1 cup whole
pecans 1 tsp. vinegar 3 egg whites pinch salt 1 cup sugar zipper
baggie wooden spoon tape a Bible
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
This is important! Don't wait until you're half done with the
recipe.
Place
pecans in zipper baggie and let children beat them with the wooden spoon to
break into small pieces. Explain that
after Jesus was arrested, He was beaten by the Roman soldiers. Read John
19:1-3.Let each child smell the vinegar. Put 1 tsp. vinegar into
mixing bowl. Explain that when Jesus was thirsty on the cross, He was
given vinegar to drink. Read John 19:28-30.Add egg whites to vinegar.
Eggs represent life. Explain that Jesus gave His life to give us
life. Read John 10:10-11.Sprinkle a little salt into each child's
hand. Let them taste it and brush the rest into the bowl. Explain that this
represents the salty tears shed by Jesus' followers, and the bitterness of
our own sin. Read Luke 23:27.So far, the ingredients are not very
appetizing. Add 1 cup sugar. Explain that the sweetest part of the story
is that Jesus died because He loves us. He wants us to know and belong to
Him. Read Ps. 34:8 and John 3:16.Beat with a mixer on high speed for
12 to 15 minutes until stiff peaks are formed. Explain that the color white
represents the purity in God's eyes of those whose sins have been cleansed by
Jesus. Read Isa. 1:18 and John 3:1-3.Fold in broken nuts. Drop by
teaspoons onto wax paper covered cookie sheet. Explain that each mound
represents the rocky tomb where Jesus' body was laid. Read Matt.
27:57-60.Put the cookie sheet in the oven, close the door and turn the
oven OFF. Give each child a piece of tape and seal the oven door. Explain
that Jesus' tomb was sealed. Read Matt. 27:65-66.Now go to bed! Explain that they may feel sad to leave the cookies in the oven overnight.
Jesus' followers were in despair when the tomb was sealed. Read John 16:20
and 22.On Easter morning, open the oven and give everyone a cookie.
Notice the cracked surface and take a bite. The cookies are hollow! On the
first Easter, Jesus' followers were amazed to find the tomb open and
empty. Read Matt. 28:1-9Happy Easter from the Kindergarten classes and from all of St. Anastasia Catholic School!

KidsArt Fair!
|
St. Anastasia Catholic Second-grader Jacob Krauza shows off his masterpiece for the KidsArt Fair. The second graders learned about the 20th century artist George Rouault whose paintings of clowns, saints and bible scenes resemble stained glass. The 2nd graders chose a saint to depict and, using tempera paint, painted thick and thin lines using black paint and then filled in the colors without rinsing their brushes. This method leaves flecks of colors just like stained glass windows.
 | School Art Department and PTO is hosting our first ever KidsArt Fair event on Wednesday, April 14th from 7-9 p.m. at the Parish Center.
Students have completed their masterpieces and their artwork will be displayed at the Art Fair for families
who wish to attend. Frame packages may be purchased for $29.95 (plus tax). Our
school receives a percentage of all sales to benefit our Art Department. For more information, visit www.kidsartfairs.com.
Please return your RSVP to your child's teacher. By sending in your RSVP, parents are not committed to purchasing the artwork; you are just ensuring that your child's artwork will be on
display at the Art Fair when you arrive.
To learn more about the artwork your child is creating for this event, click here.
Don't forget, the PTO will also host their annual Ice Cream Social during this event. So plan on stopping by the Art Fair and Ice Cream Social for free ice cream, fun and fantastic artwork!

St. Anastasia Catholic Church News
|
From Kris Frank, Youth Program Coordinator: The monthly middle school
youth ministry has been a great success this past year with nearly 60 kids
attending some nights. For the upcoming
year, we are hoping to concentrate on building the ministry and offering more
for the middle school kids of our parish. To make this happen the youth program will need more involvement from
parents and volunteers. We are also looking for someone to come forward and
take a role conducting the middle school youth nights with the help of the
current director of youth ministry. There will be a possible stipend for this
new position. If you are interested in
assisting in the spiritual growth of the middle school youth of the parish or
have any questions, please contact Kris Frank at the Parish Office at 461.2233
or e-mail him at stanastasiayouth@gmail.com. God bless.
