Dear Luthiers, It's hard to believe that we'r e almost ready to tear the last page from the 2011 calendar. This has been an exciting year for us; we added some great products, had several excellent Luthierie Camps, got a few instruments built in the midst of our regular parts and kits production, added many new customers to our already wonderful list of luthier friends, and - on the personal side - grew our family by two more grandchildren. I hope it has been an equally great year for you, that you've enjoyed your building and luthierie experiences, and that we have helped - in some way - to make those experiences both rewarding and memorable. As with all businesses today, we've had to work harder and smarter to keep costs in line and maintain intelligent inventories so that we could ship your orders with acceptable prices and zero delay. We continue to focus on how we can better serve you, how we can bring you more professional products, and how we can provide you with the best customer service and technical support on the face of the earth. Please don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything further we can do to make your luthierie experiences incredible. I would love to hear from you, and you can email me directly here. As I was decorating our tree this year, I was taken in by its scent and texture and I stopped for a moment to appreciate the splendor of this gift from Mother Nature. And, I was saddened as I thought about how this young tree would spend the remainder of its time in our home instead of growing to become an older tree. As I touched the needles (and wondered what kind of spruce it was) the sadness turned to joy and warmth as I realized how this tree, and all other trees I have come in contact with, have enriched my life. As luthiers, we are blessed to have such a privileged interaction with our trees and their wood. I hope you can in some way share in the reverence for wood and be appreciative for this great resource. I am going to keep this month's newsletter brief so I have room to focus on special offers for the the gift-giving season. With the Holidays just around the corner, I've selected several items that I feel will make great luthierie gifts. Each of these items can ship immediately, and as a special 2011 Holiday offer, everything on this list is an unprecedented 20% off until Monday, December 19th. From all of us here to all of you there, we hope you have a wonderful Holiday season, and that 2012 brings you and your family good health, great happiness, and joyful prosperity. Thanks for building with us... Kali, Rosemary, Roger, and Ken

· Engraved Tailpieces - We believe that the Bill James mandolin tailpieces are one of the most beautiful and practical mandolin parts made today. This tailpiece is a well designed CNC-machined part that features a hinged cover, machined (solid) string hooks, a string support that is adjustable to get the correct tailpiece-to-bridge angle, and rubber string-rattle preventers that double as a lid lock. From an acoustical standpoint, this tailpiece is heavier and more rigid than standard stamped tailpieces which helps promote sustain and amplitude. Tailpieces are available in silver (not nickel) or gold plating, and feature your name engraved on the lid with Loar-style wriggle-work around the lid's edge. Each engraved tailpiece is regularly $159.00, but if you use promotion code "HOLIDAY" when you order, you can purchase it for only $127.20 plus P&H. (Since they need to be engraved, please don't delay on ordering so we can do our best to get them to you in time for the Holidays.)

· Loar-style F-5 Mandolin Machines - Here is a one-time offer to help you put the ultimate machines on your mandolin. These machines are very close replicas of the machines that were installed on Gibson's heralded Loar-signed F5 mandolins and feature: correct length stems, 13mm diameter real mother-of-pearl buttons, slotted button screws with washers, slotted backstrap screws, slotted black-oxide round-gear screws, machined eyelet-size bushings, correct turning rotation of the knobs, and 16:1 gearing.
