Q: How long has your organization been involved with UPAF Ride for the Arts, sponsored by Miller Lite?
A: ARES has been with the Ride since the beginning.
Q: How did your organization first get involved with UPAF Ride for the Arts?
A: I can't answer that question. There is no one around to ask since it's been so long.
Q: Why do you choose to support the United Performing Arts Fund through UPAF Ride for the Arts?
A: The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) / Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES), consists of licensed amateur radio operators (hams) who have voluntarily registered qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service during disasters. UPAF Ride gives us the opportunity to practice our communication skills while providing UPAF with valuable assistance.
Q: Do you feel it is important for your company to stay involved in the community? If so, why?
A: Yes. The main purpose of our organization is to assist the community during emergencies.
Q: If your organization has a team, please tell us a little about what that represents to your employees.
A: Our organization is a team of amateur radio operators that volunteer their communication abilities. UPAF ride is an enjoyable event for ARES to help out on.
Q: What's the best/most rewarding thing about supporting UPAF Ride for the Arts?
A: The fact that thousands of riders and volunteers depend on ARES to help ensure their safety.
Q: What's the most challenging thing about supporting UPAF Ride for the Arts?
A: Just getting enough ham radio volunteers. It's a large event, but in the end it all works out.
