 QANTAS SEES GOLD ON THE COAST
Qantas believes the time is ripe for the return of its mainline domestic services to the Gold Coast, with ceo Alan Joyce saying the 'economics are now right' for the route which was discontinued just over four years ago. The trice daily 737 flights from Sydney to Coolangatta will start from 28 October, complementing Jetstar services to the 'sixth largest city in the country'.
Speaking at the launch, Joyce said the return of Qantas Gold Coast flights would capitalise on the rapid growth of south-east Queensland, with the rollout also including a refurbishment of the existing Jetstar Lounge into a Qantas Club by the end of 2012 and the debut of 'faster, smarter, check-in'. |
 SINGAPORE AIRLINES DOUBLE DAILY TO LONDON
Singapore Airlines is pleased to announce the introduction of a forth daily flight between Singapore and Heathrow from October.
The increase in frequency will be carried out progressively, starting next week when the number of flights per week will rise to 25 from 21.
Effective from 28 October Sydney will have two daily connecting flights to London. |

 QANTAS TO REFRESH INTERIORS ON B767s
Qantas will refresh 16 Boeing 767 aircrafts with new interiors and individual in-flight entertainment as part of a wider investment in the domestic customer experience.
Qantas Domestic Chief Executive Officer Lyell Strambi said customers travelling on Qantas' B767 fleet will now enjoy new cabin interiors and in-flight entertainment streamed direct to iPads in every seat.
 "Following the successful trial of our QStreaming service this year, we will partner with Panasonic to provide over 200 hours of on-demand in-flight entertainment content via iPads to every passenger in Business and Economy travelling on our B767 fleet." said Mr Strambi.
"Our customers were the first in the world to experience the ground-breaking WiFi entertainment technology and we received great feedback from our customers during the trial this year."
"We're now looking at ways to evolve this technology platform even further with our partner Panasonic to bring new standards of in-flight entertainment to our customers. We will also refresh the fleet's cabin interiors with a contemporary design that includes leather seat covers in Business and a new look and feel in the Economy cabin. Other enhancements include new carpet, lighting, curtains and dividers."
The first of 16 aircraft to be refreshed will enter into service in October.

Qantas:
 From 1 July Qantas increased their non-stop service from Sydney to Dallas to daily. Qantas are offering their new state-of-the art cabin environment on the refitted Boeing 747-400 aircraft which includes the fully flat skybed seat-beds in business class and Recaro seats in premium economy. As the only direct service from Australia beyond the US West Coast, it offers Australian travellers access to the perfectly positioned Dallas hub located less than 4 hours from every major US city. Dallas airport offers 144 domestic USA connections and 49 international making it an ideal transit hub enabling you to avoid the often extensive queues at LAX. I was lucky enough to experience the fully flat skybed over to Dallas and premium economy on the return. Both cabins offer spacious seating which was more than adequate coupled with the great Qantas service. Qantas also offer a self-serve snack bar where you can help yourself to snacks and drinks anytime throughout the flight.
DESTINATION
Dallas
 We are all familiar with the term 'Southern Hospitality' and I can now say I have experienced this first hand. Bigger and Better certainly applies to the state of Texas and the city of Dallas is no exception here. There is plenty to see and do in Dallas. A must do is a visit to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza which chronicles the assassination of President John F Kennedy. Dallas is also home to the infamous Dallas Cowboys and the stadium tour is fascinating and well worth doing even for those not interested in sport. The sheer size of the stadium is just incredible. A few things have originated in Dallas that I am sure we are all familiar with........liquid paper, ATM's, 7/11 stores, Blockbuster video, Pizza Hut and of course the much loved and recently returned TV series 'Dallas'.

 VIRGIN AUSTRALIA BOOST PERTH OFFERINGS
Virgin Australia is taking another step away from its no-frills origins, announcing that all passengers on flights between the East Coast and Perth would receive a meal, beverages and inflight entertainment regardless of the type of fare they purchased.
The move is effective from 26 September 2012, shortly after the introduction of Virgin Australia's fifth Airbus 330 aircraft which will see all Melbourne-Perth frequencies using the wide-body planes, along with three out of four daily Sydney-Perth flights.
Virgin will also move its Brisbane-Perth route to three weekday 737-800 flights. Group Executive Alliances, Network and Yield, Merren McArthur, said that "consistent with our focus on offering a seamless and comfortable travel experience between the East Coast and Perth, we recently expanded our Perth lounge to double the seat capacity". The new A330s have seat-back screens, USB connectivity and power outlets for all seats. |
