BALI AIRPORT UPGRADE
'Visit Indonesia' has confirmed further details of the continued renovation work at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport in its U$211 million project.
The tourist organisation says with 4.5 million passengers annually passing through the facilities, it's already operating three times over its maximum load.
The four stage project includes building access roads and a parking area, along with the construction of a new terminal and automatic baggage hangling system. A transit hotel to accommodate passengers on cancelled flights will also be built in the terminal.
Once completed, the existing airport terminal will be converted to a domestic facility, while the new terminal will handle all international traffic. |
DID YOU KNOW
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing is reportedly working on a long-range replacement to its Boeing 777 that could see the new aircraft fly Sydney to London direct.
The reduction in fuel and its longer mission range would make the aircraft a viable option for airlines looking to fly direct between Sydney and London, without making a stop in Asia. |

NEW KERBSIDE VIRGIN AUSTRALIA

A dedicated Virgin Australia Premium Valet carpark will also be added at Melbourne Domestic Airport later in the year.
Virgin Australia is also set to enhance its lounges in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. |

THREE OF THE BEST
This month Peter Hosper, Managing Director of the The Travel Authority, presents his three of the best.
AIRLINE PRODUCT: Part of my job is to travel a considerable amount myself, and I am in a fortunate position to be able to try a lot of different carriers around the world. Over the years there have been many great experiences on numerous airlines, but to me, nothing ever compares to stepping onto a Qantas aircraft after having been away from home for a while. On my recent trip to London I experienced the state of the art fully flat business class bed on the A380 along with the friendly and natural service that makes Qantas the great airline that it is.
HOTEL/RESORT:
I often hear people talk about their "home away from home", but it wasn't until I became a regular guest at the Langham Hotel London that I actually understood what they meant. There is no shortage of luxury hotels in a place like London, but it is the eye for detail, the care for the guest and the uncompromised service delivery that sets the Langham Hotel apart. From the minute you walk into the elegant lobby you know you have arrived in a very special place, and this theme continues to the fantastic accommodation, the great facilities, the brand new spa and most importantly, the amazing people that make it all happen. Nothing is left to chance at the Langham London, but it all happens without fuss and fanfare. A perfect place to celebrate a special occasion is the restaurant "Roux at the Landau" where the food is out of this world with wine to match, or if you just feel like a cocktail in a stylish but relaxed atmosphere the "Artesian Bar" is the place to go.
DESTINATION:
Take away New York and London, my favourite "destination" is actually a luxury cruise ship. For me personally, cruising is a great way to relax and see some extraordinary places without the stress of constantly re-packing and worrying about how to get to the next destination, Above all, cruising is great value for money, considering your transport, accommodation, entertainment, food and often wine are all included in your fare. A good example for my perfect holiday was a Silversea cruise I took in September last year from New York to Montreal, taking me to Newport RI, through the Cape Cod Canal to Boston, Bar Harbor, Halifax, Sydney (Nova Scotia), Charlottetown and the beautiful Quebec City, all whilst enjoying the luxurious facilities of the stunning "Silver Whisper".
Stay tuned for next month's Three of The Best!
