NEW DOMESTIC QANTAS EXPERIENCE
 Qantas has launched its new domestic flying experience, with a new domestic food and wine program. In addition to Next Generation Check-in, Qantas has made changes across the entire domestic experience with the most significant changes to Business Class offering both in-flight and on the ground.
Qantas customers will now enjoy Neil Perry menus in-flight and throughout Qantas Business Lounges with matching wines. The new menus are more contemporary, seasonal and adventurous and will change weekly. |

Peninsula hotels in New York and Chicago have introduced chauffeur-driven Mini Cooper cars. But they're not the average Mini. Among other things, these vehicles will have refrigerators for drinks and cold towels, plus iPod and iPhone connections. They'll also have rooftop storage boxes for guest shopping purchases. Guests booking suites will have free access to the cars for up to three hours a day for shopping.

SIBERIA AIRLINES BECOMES PART OF ONEWORLD
Siberia Airlines (S7) have become part of the OneWorld Alliance, adding Russia's leading domestic carrier to the worlds premier global airline alliance. Its subsidiary Globus joined at the same time as an affiliate member of OneWorld.
Siberia Airlines (S7) and Globus between them serve 90 destinations and 28 countries. They add 55 destinations in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States to the OneWorld schedule, plus nine countries, in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

AMERICAN AIRLINES DOMESTIC BAGGAGE POLICY
 When USA domestic flights are issued on the same ticket as the international sectors, American Airlines domestic baggage allowance is 2 x 23kgs bags per person.
If the domestic ticket is issued separately to the international ticket and travel on the domestic flight is outside of 24 hours from the international sector, the first and second checked baggage fee will apply:
- First check baggage fee US$25.00
- Second check baggage fee US$35.00

QANTAS AND BA SET THE OLD RIVALRY SOARING WITH CRICKET FARE PROMOTIONS
 To spur on the cricketing contest, British Airways and Qantas will each be offering a discount on their economy fare from Brisbane to London determined by the highest single innings total of the English and Australian teams in the Brisbane Test.
As an example of how the fare will operate, during the 2006 Test match in Brisbane, British Airways would have offered a $370 discount off its fare from Brisbane to London (given this was England's highest single innings total), while Qantas would have offered a $602 discount off its equivalent fare (given this was Australia's highest single innings total).
Both Qantas and British Airways are offering 250 tickets each with the discounted fares from midday on 30 November for travel from Brisbane to London between 1 February - 31 March 2011 and 1 May - 31 May 2011. The fares will be available for 24 hours or until the ticket allocation is reached. |
ACCOMODATION TAX IN ROME TO START 1 JANUARY 2011
 The City Council of Rome has approved the introduction of an accommodation tax in Rome. The tax will go towards better organising the city's urban services. It will be implemented from the 1st January 2011 and is payable by all people staying in accommodation in Rome at the conclusion of each stay, whether the booking was made before or after the 1st January 2011.
The tax also applies to those who have booked and paid for their accommodation through a travel agent or tour operator.
- 1 to 3 star Hotels € 2 per person per night up to 10 days
- 4 to 5 star Hotels € 3 per person per night up to 10 days
The approval process by the Council Regulation implementing the Capital is still ongoing and therefore the above taxes may be subject to slight variations. The above is as advised by the Italian Tourist Office. |
 VAT INCREASE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM
On the 4th of January 2011 VAT in the United Kingdom is increasing from 17.5% to 20%. VAT on accommodation, in-house dining, meeting rooms and other services will be subject to this increase.
