Greetings!
The Hammond Public Library wishes you a happy new year. We are closed Sat., Jan. 1, as well as Mon., Jan. 17 (Dr. M. L. King Day). In 2011 you'll see some returning programs, as well as several new ones. Here are some Save-the-Dates for you:
Mon., Jan. 10: Novel Conversations group meets at 6:30 at Main Library to discuss The Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton.
Wed., Feb. 2: Mystery Club meets at 1 p.m. at the Howard Branch to discuss books by Chicagoan Sara Paretsky, author of the V. I. Warshawski books.
Tues., Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m.: The Billy Foster Trio with vocalist, Renee Miles-Foster, visits Main Library to present "The History of Jazz." Mr. Foster teaches jazz piano at Valparaiso University, where he also performs with the faculty jazz ensemble. Mr. Foster also hosts a jazz program on 88.7 FM, WGVE in Gary.
