 First Lego League
First Lego League: Think you've got what it takes to be a champion among young engineers? Then FIRST®
LEGO® League is for you! Gateways Botshop will be putting together a
team this year to join the fun. This team will consist of 3-10 students,
aged 9-14, who will have a mentor as they prepare to conquer the
challenges of the competion. This year's theme is "Engineering Meets
Medicine". Through the 2010 Body Forward™ Challenge, students will
explore the cutting-edge world of Biomedical Engineering to discover
innovative ways to repair injuries, overcome genetic predispositions,
and maximize the body's potential, with the intended purpose of leading
happier and healthier lives. Prerequesites: Exceptional dedication from
students and parents, *completion of Mindstorms 1, 2, and 3. There
are three parts to this journey to the world championships. First the
team needs to pass the qualifiers to get to the BC championships. If the
team wins the BC championship then the team will be off to the worlds
or an alternative choice. Sometimes the BC champions are not invited to
the worlds and are offered an alternative like Turkey or China. However,
in other cases, the BC champions are not offered any invitations and
therefore the second cost will not be applied. 1st Cost: $300 plus a $300 deposit for going to the BC championships. Dates: September to Nov 25th.
