What Does Philanthropy Look Like? Anything Like You?

Wikipedia defines Philanthropy as "loving what it is to be human (philos: "loving: in the sense of benefitting, caring for, nourishing; and anthropos: "human being" in the sense of humanity, human-ness". The true philanthropist is believed to have a general love for, or benevolence toward the whole of humankind.

A New Leaf defines Philanthropy as all of the above plus more. It is:

  • YOU, as a generous steward of the wealth of resources you've acquired through the years
  • YOU, as a volunteer of your time to serve on our Board, committees and with hands-on help in our programs
  • YOU, as you coordinate your neighborhood, family or church group to hold one of our Essential Donation Drives
  • YOU, as you pass this email on to everyone in your address book, facebook and twitter account to spread the word that together, we can make a huge difference
  • YOU, who struggle with your own schedule and/or finances, yet strive to pull together "giving groups" to pool your resources into amazing donations
  • YOU, as parents teaching your children the joy of giving
  • YOU, as you take the time to consider the needs and suffering of the less fortunate and respond with the question, "How can I help?"

Now, more than ever, we need YOU to remember the children, families and individuals living in our shelters.

For A New Leaf's November/December's "Holiday Gift Box Program". A New Leaf clients have created a list of their most needed items while living in shelter". Please help us help them this holiday season.

We can make a greater difference together! Thank you!
