Evergreen Habitat announces its annual Raising the Roof breakfast

annual breakfast invitation

One way Evergreen Habitat for Humanity achieves its goal of providing a hand up to deserving Clark County families is through our annual breakfast benefit.

The annual Raising the Roof breakfast will be held on Friday, October 28 at the Vancouver Hilton Hotel. Starting at 7:00 a.m., we will share stories from the families who have been served over the last year and express our plans for upcoming builds.

This year's breakfast will be free of charge to enable us to focus on the mission of Habitat and the families that are served through donations received at the benefit.

Table hosts are needed to recruit a group of nine people interested in becoming involved with Evergreen Habitat.

Interested in attending as an individual or Table Captain? RSVP to Melissa Edwards at Melissa@ehfh.org

Habitat seeks USDA funding for rural builds

To expand Evergreen Habitat's ability to provide housing to low-income Clark County families, the organization is partnering with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to build homes in rural areas. Family selection and construction will continue to be led by Habitat, and the USDA will finance the projects.

"We've built over twenty homes in the Vancouver area but the need for affordable housing is spread across the county", said Josh Townsley, executive director, Evergreen Habitat for Humanity. "We want to provide assistance to qualified families regardless of their location within Clark County."

Evergreen Habitat for Humanity plans to begin construction in Battleground, WA in 2012. Interested in helping lead the project? Email Josh Townsley at Josh@ehfh.org.

Volunteer Spotlight:

Joyce Niles

"Even signing up without much experience, you quickly find that there are so many things you can do on the construction site."

Evergreen Habitat's Women Build' has brought out some phenomenal women volunteers but many fantastic ladies rack up some serious volunteer hours on a regular basis.

Joyce Niles has put in over 50 volunteer hours in the last two months working on the Griffin and Cabrera family homes.

In addition to her work on the job sites, Joyce is usually one of the first to sign up to help with events and outreach.
