New summer concert series to raise funds for Evergreen Habitat on July 27th

With support from Tommy O's Restaurant, Camus Meadows Golf Club has opened its doors for an exciting summer concert series, 'Concerts for a Cause'. Each of the seven Wednesday concerts will benefit an area non-profit. The July 27th spot, featuring the band 5 Guys Named Moe will raise funds for Evergreen Habitat. Doors open at 5 pm, the show will start at 6 pm.

"[The concert series] is our way to give back and create awareness for many of the needs among the community," said Jenny Duce of Camas Meadows Golf Club. "Yes, there are many worthy causes out there, but we chose some of our favorites for the first year."

Five Guys Named Moe is a fabulous 12-piece horn-driven show band. You may have heard them at the Portland Trailblazers playoff game.

Don't miss this chance to come out and listen to some great music while supporting a great cause.

A suggested donation of $5 at the door will directly support Evergreen Habitat. Balcony tables for groups of four are available for $80. For more information, call Evergreen Habitat at 360-737-1759 or email melissa@ehfh.org.

Tool Box Bash brings out the best of Evergreen Habitat for Humanity

 wall

The' Tool Box Bash' proved that Evergreen Habitat can play as hard as it works. The 20th anniversary celebration was wildly fun for everyone who came out.

Party-goers packed into the Clark County Event Center to take part in Habitat-themed games like Duct Tape Shuffleboard, giant Jenga and Trike Races. Over forty raffle prizes were awarded, including a 32-inch LCD DVD Combo HDTV.

Two decades worth of Habitat accomplishments were highlighted in a moving program that included addresses from 2011 partner families.

"I want what every parent wants for their children, a permanent home to raise my family," said Desere Bastidas, a 2011 family partner. "Without Habitat for Humanity, it would not be possible to realize this dream."

Here are just a few highlights from the last 20 years:

  • A Brush with Kindness program launched
  • Evergreen's first partner family will soon pay off their 20 year mortgage
  • 88 individuals have been housed including 56 children
  • One family partner is now employed at the Clark County Habitat for Humanity Store.

"I would like to thank everyone who has made these last 20 years possible and invite you to be part of Habitat's future," said Josh Townsley, executive director of Evergreen Habitat.

Annual golf tournament raises over $15,000

Team Moore 4 Less

On May 26th, 34 teams of die-hard golfers braved the rain to compete to raise funds for Evergreen Habitat at the 6th Annual Golf Tournament.

Teams Duval, Columbia Vista and Moore for Less tied for the win at 26 points under par. Winners received 18 holes of golf courtesy of Camas Meadows Golf Club.

The tournament raised over $15,000 for the Clark County affiliate. Sponsors US Bank, Columbia Vista and Robertson Olson made the tournament possible. Tee box sponsors provided enterainment along the course and were sources of support.

"The Evergreen Habitat golf tournament is hands-down the best in Clark County," said Justin Myers, Evergreen Habitat board member. "Habitat definitely lived up to its reputation with the 2011 tournament."

The scramble-style tournament began with a shot-gun start at 8am. Raffle prizes and a barbeque lunch followed the afternoon of golf.

Evergreen Habitat will need help planning for next year's tournament. If you are interested in taking part, email Melissa Edwards.
