Greetings!
First off, a huge thank you for registering your interest in becoming an Instructor. I personally apologise profusely for the long delay in getting back to everyone. We have been truly flooded with Instructor applications and we have only just touched the tip on the iceberg (yay!).
We are madly compiling dates and venues for the following states:
- NSW - WA - VIC - ACT - QLD
With other states to follow once we receive interest. ACT dates are listed below so for those of you in NSW who are keen to roll in sooner rather than later, you are most welcome to come along and do your training here in the Capital.
2011 is going to be a huge year for HumanFusion with us having a booth at for our official launch. So keep your calendars ready for dates and times as well as some planning dates for some FILEXFusionFlashMobs. All instructors who are keen to perform in the FFM at FILEX (Sydney 2011), will be able to learn the choroegraphies through a secure link supplied to registered instructors. But there will be more on that down the track.
We have solid relationships now in place with several gyms including Fernwood and Fitness First. We are still approaching other gym chains so if you have a gym in mind that you think might benefit from this program, email us with their website or contact info and we'll get it in there asap!
The HumanFusion website is being built currently to allow for remote log in for gyms as well as for Instructors. All registered instructors will get a profile on the site containing plenty of information, making it easy for gyms and fitness facilities to book you.
So start thinking about your profile.... we'll need a nice photo as well as the following information:
- Your availability - Your preferred locations (City, Suburbs etc) - Preferred times - Rate per hour (we suggest between $30-40 p/hr) - Your current HF Certifications (this is added by us and details all the modules you are certified to teach) - Contact details for gyms - What you love about dance
So get this info to us by email (click here) and we can ensure your profile is ready in time for your certification.
I appreciate all of your patience whilst we are getting each state up and running. We just want to make sure that after you do your module/s certification, that you have gyms to teach it in. :)
These newsletters are only for instructors and will be sent regularly so you are up to date with what is happening in your state.
Enjoy and keep dancing!
:) Angie

Fitness Benefits of Dance
Why dance for exercise?
Dancing is a freeing and fun form of celebration for many people,
and the activity offers lots of health benefits as well. Dance is a
common practice in many cultures and forms throughout the world, and has
been for centuries. Besides being an ancient cultural art form, dance
is an aerobic exercise that helps improve heart health, burn calories
and strengthen muscles and flexibility.
Aerobic
Benefits
Dance offers major aerobic benefits such as boosting heart
health, burning calories and improving overall fitness levels. As with
other aerobic activities, such as running, swimming or walking, dance
strengthens the lungs. It also burns calories, which helps with weight
loss and increases your metabolism, even while resting. The amount of
calories you burn varies with your weight and age, but in general, for a
70kg person, dancing burns around 109 calories in 10 minutes, which
translates to more than 600 calories in an hour. The aerobic component
of dance also makes it an excellent way to reduce cholesterol and lower
blood pressure.
Flexibility
Dance also offers fitness benefits by increasing flexibility.
There are a wide array of dance forms, but
they all require stretching to warm up and cool down. Stretching the
muscles, as well as performing exercises such as leaps, lunges and
balancing poses, helps lengthen the muscles and improve flexibility. In
addition, dancers use a wide range of motion in their routines, which
helps improve the muscles' ability to flex and stretch. Flexibility
helps prevent injuries, as it allows the muscles to be more supple and
bend instead of tearing or breaking, and it helps muscles support bones
and joints.
Muscle Conditioning
Another positive effect of dance is increased muscle strength and
endurance. Dancing requires a lot of strength to hold poses, hop,
twist and bound, hence building muscles. Strong muscles burn more
calories than weak muscles, as well as protect against injuries. Dancers
often have very toned arm, leg and core muscles as these major muscle
groups are used in a variety of dance styles. Dancing also helps build
muscle endurance, as it challenges the body to continue performing for
extended periods of time while under stress. Muscle endurance allows
muscles to keep working without getting tired. Endurance boosts overall
energy levels and helps dancers stay healthy and active,
both on the dance floor and off.

Quick tips for: teaching HumanFusion
- Do as many sets on the right as on the left
- Cue aerobics students using directional, rhythmic, numerical or visual
techniques. Students need to know which foot to move, what counts or
breath cycles they're on and how their bodies should be
aligned--transition carefully between exercises to keep the class
flowing properly.
- Be professional--know your students
- Be aware of symptoms of
overexertion
- Teach proper posture and body alignment.
- Understand the core elements of exercise and have confidence in your
skills to teach those elements to others.
