Tattoo Removal:
 Reversal Tattoo Method

W h a t    i s    i t ?
Tattoo Removal, the reversal tattoo method,
is a non-Laser technique.  More accurately, it is
a unique chemical extraction process.

T h e    C h e m i s t r y :
Traditional or common micropigmentation or tattoo pigments are inorganic metal oxides such as iron oxides, carbon black, chromium oxide or titanium dioxide etc. These inorganic metal oxides are insoluble in water and most organic solvents. Therefore, they can last a long period of time after they are buried in the skin.  Removal System consists of alkaline earth metal oxides and transitional metal oxides (in similar particle size range with tattoo pigments) in a special formula (Suspension).

The metal oxides in the Removal System have very similar physico-chemical properties to tattoo pigments so that they have good chemical affinity or miscibility. The old saying "like attracts like" reflects this principle. When Tattoo Removal Suspension has good physical contact with tattoo pigments (in the skin), tattoo pigments merge gradually into Tattoo Removal Suspension.  Tattoo Remover is also incompatible to the skin so that the skin repels or ejects it. After the tattoo pigments merge into the  Removal Suspension, the skin rejects the mixture to the skin surface (forms a crust or scab, which will detach from the skin).

T h e     P r o c e s s :
The application of the Reversal Tattoo Removal Suspension is a "tattoo-over" process using a cosmetic rotary machine or coil tattoo gun. As far as procedures are concerned, the removal process consists of four steps
  • Step 1. Topical Anesthetic is applied
  • Step 2. Removal Suspension is applied (by "tattoo-over" method described above)
  • Step 3. Let it dry and form a crust (at home)
  • Step 4. Finally, a crust peels off and skin recovery period starts (at home)

Step 1 & 2 can take anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour depending upon the size of a removal area. Step 3 usually takes 7 to 25 days, depending upon the application depth for a particular removal (removal of micropigmentation usually takes 7 to 14 days).  Step 4 usually takes 1-3 months for micropigmentation and 3-6 months for body tattoos. After a crust comes off, the skin usually becomes fairly red and even slightly raised at the edges. It is not scarring and will heal, returning to normal over time.

P e r m a n e n t     M a k e u p :

Since the tattoo pigments of micropigmentation or permanent makeup are located pretty shallow in the skin (between epidermis and very upper dermis), the pigment may be easily removed without scarring. After the scab peels off, there is a tender redness on the skin. It is normal and apply A&D Ointment daily to help the skin healing process. The skin will gradually return to a normal state in 1-3 months. The success rate for removal of micorpigmentation or permanent makeup is phenomenal.  Consultation is usually required for removal of permanent makeup and not everyone is a candidate for tattoo pigments of micropigmentation.

R e m o v a l:
Most frequently asked question, but we are sorry to say there is no definite answer.  Tattoo removal can take anywhere from a couple of sessions to many years.  Also, black pigments may extract quicker than color pigments.  The duration of tattoos does not affect the removal process significantly. Some tattoos over 20 years have been removed by the technique successfully. Of course, newly made tattoos (less than a year) may be slightly easier to remove compared to old tattoos.

T a t t o o     M e t h o d :
It has been found that Laser removal could change skin tissue or physicochemical properties of tattoo pigments. This complication may affect the success rate, depending upon a particular condition (case by case).

A     M u l t i p l e - S e s s i o n
A p p r o a c h :
The tattoo pigments of body tattoos are located considerably deep in the skin (between upper dermis to mid-dermis). Hence, the extraction process becomes significantly harder and a deeper puncture might disturb the skin appendage resulting in a hypertrophic scar or puffy redness.  In order to minimize undesirable scarring, any attempt to remove all tattoo pigments with deep puncturing by one treatment must be avoided. Consequently, a prudent multiple-session approach is developed. In this approach, puncturing must be controlled at normal tattooing depth and excessive or prolonged puncturing must be avoided in treatment. Based upon the result from the first treatment, then decide how to make second treatment after sufficient skin recovery (8 to 10 weeks). It has been observed that tattoo pigments in deep position (below puncturing depth) could be raised up to some degree after a treatment. Hence these deeper pigments might be removed in a second or later treatment with the same puncturing depth.

A f t e r c a r e     i s
 I m p o r t a n t :
It should be stressed that Aftercare is an important portion of the removal process. Improper removal of crust, severe infection and considerably scratching on a treated area may cause scarring as well. Hence, a good explanation of the Aftercare process, giving a written Aftercare Instruction and timely communication with clients about the Aftercare process, is just as important as a treatment performed.

Willow
A.K.A.
"Knock on [Willow] Wood
or
"The Natural Aspirin"

There are over 500 different types of Willow trees,
ranging from shrub size to over 75 feet tall,
but only a handful are utilized for their medicinal value.

These include the White Willow, the Black Willow,
the Purple Willow, and the Sallow.

"Knock on wood" evolved from the phrase "Knock on Willow", due to it's protective powers in folklore.

White Willow
White willow has been used to combat fevers and pain for thousands of years.  It may be the oldest herb known to treat pain and inflammation, the oldest recorded use is by Chinese physicians in 500 B.C.

The inner bark of the white willow tree contains salicin, which is changed to salicylic acid in the body. The compound in aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, is derived from salicylic acid.

White willow is thought by many to have the same effect as aspirin, preventing heart attacks by thinning the blood and preventing the blood clotswhich cause not only heart attacks but also strokes. In addition, the willow bark does not increase the risk of ulcers or stomach bleeding. Other possible benefits of white willow include reducing the risk of colon and stomach cancer, reducing blood sugar, and reducing uterine cramping.

Herbalists use white willow much the same as aspirin, ie; to reduce fevers, pain, and inflammation in conditions such as painful menstruation, arthritis, and neuralgia.

White willow works slower, but lasts longer than aspirin, and has less side gastronomic side effects, due to the large amounts of tannins that protect the stomach.

White willow is best when used over long periods of time and can take days to improve conditions.

::Herbal Recipe of the Month::
Willow Bark
Tea Recipe

As for adults, a general guideline for the herbal tea
dosage is 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried willow
bark with 8 oz of water. Let's take a quick look at how to make willow bark tea.

Ingredients
          • Dried willow bark
          • Water
          • Honey, for taste
          • Lemon, for taste
Step #1: You can purchase dried willow bark or use well chopped up bark. To do so, take a pair of scissors or knife, cut a branch from the willow tree. Make sure you don't use the branches which have already fallen on the ground, as it won't be alive or beneficial. The length of the branch will depend on how thick the branch actually is and how much tea you're looking to prepare. To be on the safe side, cut ½ inch thick branch and almost 6 feet long. Once the branch is cut properly, you will be left with one cup worth of willow bark.

Step #2: Take the knife and cut the branch into 3 inch long pieces. The rooting hormone will be released as you cut the branch in this manner. In a measuring cup, place the pieces to make sure that the correct proportion is being used, as compared to the amount of water for the willow bark tea.

Step #3: In a large pot, pour enough water to make sure the branch pieces and water have correct proportions. For every cup of the branch pieces, you will have to add at least one quart of water. Place a lid on top of the pot and let the willow bark tea cook at medium to high heat.

Step #4: After 20 minutes, take the pot off the stove and let it sit in the hot water for at least 8 to 12 hours. Strain the tea and remove the branch pieces. Combine honey and lemon in the tea to make it more flavorful. Pour the tea in a clean glass container and then in the refrigerator to cool it.
