Greetings!
Sorry to start talking about the Autumn when it is only early August, but I'm afraid that before you know it the summer will be over (did it start?) so I thought I would remind you of some September events being run by Competitive Advantage and by CIMCIG in this month's newsletter. I've also included an article on marketing to architects which I recently wrote for RIBA Enterprises' monthly briefing. We are constantly gathering information on this subject through our market research and I hope this gives you some good ideas. This newsletter is intended to provide a broad view of the construction industry, but it is mainly the Housing and Communities Agency which is making the news, so once again housing is featured. Finally, have a look at Barbour ABI's newsletter which includes some useful data on sector performance. |
| Marketing to Architects |
For all of us, marketing to architects is a key business strategy. We want to create awareness of our products so that they'll be included in designs, thereby creating 'demand pull' through the supply chain, and eventually sales. The architect is probably the most important member of the design team, distilling the requirements and advice of all others. He or she starts with the client's needs in terms of how the building is to be used and how the client wishes to be perceived. These needs must be developed around the requirements of the Building Regulations and, increasingly, sustainability. Finally, he or she must take into account the views and advice of quantity surveyors, the main contractor and specialist sub-contractors as they will often be well positioned to suggest ways of saving time, money and environmental impact. continued |
