High School Orientation
at Camp Glen Brook

35 Glen Brook Rd., Marlborough, N.H.

Twelve years ago, the Waldorf High School initiated its orientation program for freshmen at Camp Glen Brook in New Hampshire.  Since then, orientation has been a way to become acquainted with new students and become re-acquainted with old friends.  This year, the Classes of 2011 and 2014 continue the tradition of having high school seniors introduce various facets of high school life to the incoming freshmen.  The days together in New Hampshire are meant to be fun-filled, relaxing, and informative.  There will be outdoor activities, discussion groups, informational sessions, and plenty of time to relax and get to know one another.

The bus will leave the Waldorf School on Monday, August 30th at 8:30 a.m. and will return on Wednesday, September 1st at 4:30 p.m.  For more information about this trip, click here.

Monadnock Literary & Arts Festival
Glen Brook's second annual Monadnock Literary & Arts Festival invites writers, artists, musicians - and participants - to celebrate the effects of place on our daily lives. Whether we live in city neighborhoods, the suburbs or exurbs, or rural landscape, our environment affects who we are: our choice of music and entertainment, our outdoor adventures and our culinary tastes, even the friends we choose. Artists and writers and visitors are invited to Glen Brook's Marlborough, New Hampshire, campus to celebrate three days of the arts - writer discussions and readings, artist presentations, and musical performances.  For more information, click here.

Harvest Weekend
Friday, October 1st to Sunday, October 3rd

Each October, Camp Glen Brook hosts an intensive weekend program harvesting the camp's biodynamic gardens. Families are invited to stay at the Camp for two nights and participate in all aspects of Glen
Brook's gardening and harvest programs: pulling potatoes from the ground, gathering pumpkins, making soups and pies, harvesting apples and making cider, and spreading compost for the next year's planting.  The schedule is full, yet there is also ample time for exploring the out-of-doors, sitting by the wood stove in the Main House living room, or reading and relaxing.

Cost: $105 for adults; $65 for children (Max: $250 per family)

Space is limited. To reserve a room for your family call (603) 876-3342 or email: office@glenbrook.orgClick here for more information.
Building Safety
and Important Parking Reminder
We ask that you please share in keeping our school a safe and secure place. Remember that students taking the bus or being dropped off by a parent in the morning can continue to enter the building at the "top" of the circle (i.e., by the high school and lower school) until 8:30 a.m. each day, at which time these doors will be locked for the remainder of the school day. Anyone arriving after that time or during the day, and all other visitors should enter and sign-in at the Main Entrance. When exiting the building, please be sure to pull the locked doors closed behind you.

For the safety and convenience of the members of our school community:
  • Parking on the section of Cambridge Avenue between the school's entrance and exit is dangerous and prohibited.
  • Adelphi University owns the parking lots to the east and south of our campus.  Individuals parking in these lots may receive tickets from the University.
  • Keep the U clear for buses and refrain from parking during school hours in the marked bus lane.
  • Parking in the crosswalk at the Main Entrance obstructs buses and makes crossing hazardous for pedestrians.
  • Please show consideration for members of our community who depend on the parking space designated for handicapped parking by not using this as a drop-off or pick-up spot.
  • Please keep parking in the U open for faculty and staff.
  • Always stop at the stop sign at the cross-walk and driveway exit.
Cafeteria
Please remember to replenish your child's account for the Cafeteria and Bookstore.  We suggest a starting balance of $100 for students in the 4th - 12th grades who intend to use the cafeteria daily; while $50 if sufficient for students in the 1st - 3rd  grades who have soup, bread and milk delivered to their classrooms. Returning students in the 5th - 12th grades should begin the year with a $150 bookstore balance, while $200 is appropriate for new students. Extra help will be on hand in the Business Office during the first week of school; however you can take care of these transactions now by mailing your check to the attention of the Business Office.

If you have some flexible time during the week please consider offering a hand in the Cafeteria. Help is needed with weekly shopping, cashiering and other tasks. One morning a week or even an hour or two a month would be appreciated. Please contact Aviva Gill at (516) 742-3434 ext. 126 in the cafeteria. All cafeteria volunteers are treated to a free lunch!
