Badoora Rambaran believes there have definitely been changes for the better at The Scarborough Hospital, including a specialized geriatric clinic that has reduced readmission for seniors to the Emergency Department(ED).
"We noticed going to the Emergency Department now it's almost like fast-tracked. It's much faster and people are more attentive and accommodating," Badoora said when she and her husband, Rudy, found themselves at the General campus waiting on word about Rudy's mother Soonbass. "We were kept updated constantly, which we didn't find in the past."

As we reported in our June 25th issue of My Scarborough Hospital, we commissioned an external review to examine the declining number of births at our hospital in recent years, and to develop a strategy moving forward that would improve patient care and experience, staff morale and overall program efficiency-ensuring our patients are getting the best possible care for the fewest possible healthcare dollars.
Since that time, three cross-disciplinary subcommittees have been formed to examine some of the external review's recommendations in greater detail. Their work is ongoing, and at this time, absolutely no decisions have been made. Over the next few months, the subcommittees will use LEAN improvement methodologies to develop options that are designed to create a clear and compelling vision for the future of maternal and newborn care at The Scarborough Hospital.
