Dear Friends,
 Snow Days, Big Warm Fires, Oyster Roasts -- That's what January is all about ... That and trying to scrape crusty ice off your windshield at 6:30 am with your plastic YMCA card because it's too dern cold to find the real scraper. Ah yes, this month many of us will be stuffing ourselves into piles of polar fleece, hats, gloves and other Eskimo wear while our children scream "Where is my North Face coaaaaaaat?" And with that in mind, we'd like to invite you to the Diamondback to have a nice dinner, toast your backside by the warm fire and just enjoy Mother Nature at her most frigid.
Lots happening this month
Great month coming up at the DB -- it's going to be a sports lover's dream come true. Football playoffs, basketball, tennis, golf, big TVs and more. We'll also have two big seafood events -- an Oyster Roast on Thursday, January 20 and our world-famous (kinda) Seafood Crabondanza on Thursday, January 27. We hope you'll join us.
Valentine's is coming up, and Cupid says don't be a stinker.
Mark your calendar for Monday, February 14 for our annual Valentine's celebration (with a mini-celebration on Saturday, February 12). We like to go all out for Valentine's because, as you may know, the Diamondback has a long history with couples meeting, falling in love and getting married. (Some of these folks are even still married!) We do love engagements too, so come pop the question at the DB and we'll be writing about it for the next decade. If you want to send your girlfriend or wife a truckload of roses to the DB, well, we'd like that too. Murphy and our chefs are already working on our special Valentine's menu that will make even the most unromantic person in the world get a little misty eyed. Not to mention we may be the only place in town with white tablecloths, roses, Led Zeppelin and gourmet food going on at the same time.

murph's moment at the Y
 Murphy recently helped dedicate a new flag and flagpole at the William G. White Family YMCA.
At the ceremony, Senator Richard Burr spoke and there was a 21 gun salute by the Veteran's of Foreign War Honor Guard. Murphy, you're making us proud. Now if we can all just get to the gym to see this new flag ...

Please note we will be having a little mini-Valentine's on Saturday, February 12 for those who don't like to do their romancing during the workweek. So that gives you a choice -- you can come to mini-Valentines on February 12 or the big shindig Valentine's on February 14. Note to the naughty: Just because we're offering two different dates for Valentine's, we don't think you should be trying to juggle two different Valentine's. Just ask Tiger.

 Yes, this is something we wanted to do this year to thank our loyal DB customers! Come in for a free birthday dinner (up to $25) and let us treat you to a nice night. Naturally, we hope you'll come with 25 of your best friends -- but that's not the point. All you have to do is make a reservation and let us know it's your birthday. You will need to show us something that proves it's your birthday and, no, we won't laugh at the picture on your driver's license or make bad old-age jokes (too bad!). Happy Birthday!

 Simply call the Diamondback in advance of your event and Chef Benjamin will whip up something spectacular for you. There are many different types of cakes you can choose from.
This particular cake was incredibly moist, delicious and chocolatey. Very nice way to start the New Year!
