Gardening Information

Everything should be planted and up by now. Hopefully also producing food for your table. As of my writing this newsletter on April 20th, we are enjoying lettuce, arugula, spinach, collard greens, asparagus, kale, new potatoes, onions, and swiss chard. Tomatoes, figs, pears, peaches, and apricots are on and growing. Okra is peeking through. Don't forget the Grand Prairie Farmer's Market on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm. The address is 120 W. Main Street.

KATHY'S KORNER
 Frozen Banana Split Cake

2 Pkgs Ice Cream Sandwiches
3-4 Bananas Sliced, 1/4 - 1/2 Inch Slices
Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream Sauce
Strawberry Preserves, Strawberry Ice Cream Topping or Strawberries, sliced and diced (Your Choice)
Vanilla Wafers, Crushed
Pineapple Ice Cream Topping
Pecans, Chopped Fine
Cool Whip, Thawed
Maraschino Cherries, Chopped

Line either 2 bread pans or 8 x 11 baking pan with aluminum foil. Lay ice cream sandwiches in pan to line bottom. In order, place next few ingredients over sandwiches - bananas, top with fudge sauce (can heat 1/2 minute to 1 minute in microwave to make it pour easier - remove metal lid first), strawberry topping, then crushed vanilla wafers, pineapple topping, pecans, then another layer of ice cream sandwiches, cool whip, top with pecans and cherries. Freeze - overnight is best.

Can use ice cream bars - just remove the sticks.
