Cadiz "Cuvee Renaissance" Cour-Cheverny 2005 (Loire, France): Made from the ever versatile Chenin Blanc, this wine has just a touch of sweetness - but DO NOT let that scare you or you'll be missing out a on a stunning value. Incredibly pure and crystalline, it's clean yet rich, mineraly yet tropical, and the finish goes on for ever and ever and ever. Regular price: $22.99
Weninger Blaufrankisch 2006 (Burgenland, Austria): The Blaufrankisch grape is the definition of happy - fun to say, fun to drink. Plush, happy fruit like red berries, and cherries balanced by a little bit of spice. High glug factor. Regular price: $15.99
Laimburg "Olleiten" Largo di Caldaro Scelto 2007 (Alto Adige, Italy): An Italian wine in Austrian clothing. Or maybe it's an Austrian wine in Italian clothing (that sounds much more chic, and this wine is quite chic). Like a ruby/purple jewel in the glass, it's vibrant, juicy, fresh, spicy, and a bit fruity all at the same time. Regular price $22.99

Fancy Pants Wines: Lopez de Heredia Rosado 1997
It's a way off, but imagine Thanksgiving dinner...the cranberry sauce, the turkey, the yams, the turkey, the stuffing, the turkey. It's a wine-pairing nightmare. But this is the wine that can handle it all. Delicate enough to handle the turkey (which let's face it, is pretty bland), a little fruit to deal with the cranberries and exotic enough to stand up to the stuffing, yams, and even pumpkin pie. It's perfect.
 But it's not exactly your typical rosé - it has some of the tangy-ness you'll find in a good fino sherry, only a hint of fruit, and lovely exotic spices like cardamom and ginger.
So if you're intrigued, we recommend you try one now, imagine it with your turkey day spread and if you like it, buy a few more.

All right, it's taken us longer to get up and running on this the expected, but starting on October 1st, every Wednesday this Fall, we will be hosting mini educational classes. These will be super quick sessions that will highlight key steps along the wine learning trail.

Wine You Never Knew You Needed
Domaine Labbe Mondeuse 2006 (Vin de Savoie, France): Mondeuse is the French name for the Italian Rofosco grape (like that helps). Vin de Savoie is a wine region located at the base of the French side of the Alps - which could explain why the wine is like a breath of clean, crisp Alpine air.
The soft fruit of a Pinot Noir, a little bit of slate-like minerality that reminds us of the Gamay grape and a nice kick of spice on the finish. It's another perfect summer-fall transition wine.

Roses, lychees, spices - all the trademark flavours of traditional Gewurztraminer, but like the Apatsagi, this one replaces the traditional oiliness with zippy, racy acidity.  Mercouri Estate "Antares" 2004 (Peloponnese, Greece): We are so excited about this wine! It's a blend of Mourvedre and local Greek grape, Avgoustiatis. It reminds our tastebuds of Barolo with its notes of roses, tar, leather and its uniquely elegant but firm tannic structure. It's Barolo taste on a Lehman budget. Price $24.99
