Please be a Trim Tab!August 12, 2011

Greetings!
First Trip Around Wild Horse Island
The first group of campers to go around Wild Horse Island.

Last month I wrote a short note asking for financial support for the ministry of Camp Marshall by asking people to consider being a "trim tab" or miniature rudder.  The timing of the request is important because it will help us bridge the most difficult part of our budget year.  My goal was to seek support from a broad base of our congregations and especially seeking individual gifts of $80.00 from persons who would like to make a difference.

At this time I wish to report that we have nearly met the goal of 180 gifts of $80.00.  We are now down to 104 gifts of $80.00 or we have moved from $14,374 down to $8,353.30 which given the daily news, of the world economy, is really quite remarkable.  The above picture shows a Sr. High Kayaking trip, that has just made it to the "half way" point on a trip arond Wild Horse Island.  This trip was a first ever for our program, so to make it here was a big deal.  From here, every pull on the paddle brought them closer to home.  For anyone who has made a trip like this you know that success begins with effort.  So  please understand that our effort to raise money is not over.  Now, imagine sharing in the story that you helped when you were asked.  Most important, that we met our goal together.

In a nut shell, individual gifts of $80.00 dollars is making a difference.  Just moving the little trim tab (a rudder at the end of a larger rudder) builds a low pressure that pulls the rudder around. Takes almost no effort at all.  While a financial goal of nearly $14,374.00 seemed like quite a distance to go just a few weeks ago, look at what happens when help comes from a lot of directions.  Every person who is contributing a financial gift makes a difference.  A number of congregations have been gathering offerings, while, others have made gifts online.

To help us navigate through the end of August please prayerfully considerFaith being a Trim Tab for our budget.  Please click the following link and make a donation to Camp Marshall.

Yes, I want to be a Trim Tab!

Thank you all so much for your support of this ministry.  To those who are willing to be a Trim Tab I wish to say thank you!

Yours in Christ Jesus

So, when we created a new web-site, imagine what it was like to be on the ground floor of this new ministry effort.

What does it look like to have a mission statement like this when you use technology.  How, do you communicate love?  How do you share the Gospel?  How do you bring others to Christ?

Well to be sure, we are new at this.  Our new web address is now only about two months old.  On it, you will find some of our first "best answers" to the above stated questions.  An effort like this needed someone with both skills and vision.  The individual I wish to thank, with profound gratitude, is Andrew Wheatley.

Andrew is our Media Center Director for 2011.  He tackled everything Andrew Wheatley in the morningfrom no-web site to new web site.  From no web format to new web format.  However, most important of all, was his genuine desire to help campers find a voice that might express the mission statement of Camp Marshall in a new and exciting way.

If you have not already listened to or watched any of the contributions please make yourself comfortable, get some coffee or cocoa.  Settle in and enjoy... If you have already seen or listened to these gifts, listen or watch again, then consider where you might share them.  Some ideas might include; a nursing home, church, with friends, with someone who is lonely or perhaps .........

Of course the web site is new.  So there will be more to come.

Question:  If you were to live into the mission of Camp Marshall using media as part of your resources, what would you imagine?

For now, we have a start.

This year, we have day camps in a variety of different locations around our beautiful state.

The Day Camp Program in Columbia Falls/Whitefish is specially designed for youth entering grades 1 - 6 (with a few exceptions in different locations).  In these programs, our staff from Camp Marshall partner with leaders from local congregations to provide a wonderful week-long experience in your local community.

For more information follow our links - Our last Day Camp in the summer of 2011 is -

All Saint's Episcopal Church

Columbia Falls/Whitefish Montana August 8 - 12 & 15 - 19

These programs are exciting and relatively new to our diocese.  Our hope is that as we grow this program in our local congregations, we will begin to see growth in our youth programs as well.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about our Day Camps.

Yours in Christ,

Grace Camp actually costs more than this due to the extra effort of renting vans for transportation, additional supplies for campers etc...  So every bit really helps!
