Upcoming Certified training opportunities

Certified Expert LogoThe next opportunity to get fully PROFIBUS trained and Certified to Engineer level is in the week of 14th March when MMU's will present their Certified PROFIBUS Training week.

The Training week  follows a new format designed to help candidates reach their fullest potential in just a week, the schedule covers the Certified PROFIBUS Installer course - which is pre-requisite, the Commissioning & Maintenance module, the newly-introduced System Design module (see adjacent feature article) and finally the Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Course.

Each course can be taken individually or as part of the full set, depending on the candidates' existing qualifications and ability.

To register for any of these events, please download the Registration Form and return to admin@uk.profibus.com or call Ann on +44 207 193 8018 to check availability.

Chance for a Refresh!

For existing Certified PROFIBUS Engineers who qualified 3 or more years ago, there are still a few places on the Refresher & Recertification Course on 11th Feb.

The Certified PROFIBUS Engineer Recertification Module is a full one-day course to enable people who
have already gained Certified PROFIBUS Engineer status to keep up to date with current developments
and obtain a new 3 Year certificate. The course covers latest developments in PROFIBUS, systems/network design and new functions of instruments such as ProfiTrace.

New! System Design Course

A one-day course covering the optimal design of networked automation and control systems. Centred on PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology, but also covering the use of Ethernet & AS-i technology and system software.

The need for this course

Good quality PROFIBUS, PROFINET and AS-i training has been widely available for installers, maintenance technicians and engineers for many years. Unfortunately, key decision makers - managers, system designers and system integrators are quite often less well trained than others who are involved in the engineering. Many of the errors that can be seen in installations are traceable to fundamental decisions that were taken at the early stages of the project. For example, use of inappropriate fieldbus for an application, lack of awareness of maintenance and fault-finding facilities, over-complex or inappropriate system architecture, design decisions based on equipment purchasing cost rather than whole life-cycle costs, etc.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at anyone who is dealing with the specification, design or procurement of modern automation and control systems at the engineering or technical level. The course is also suitable for device manufacturers, system integrators and technical sales/marketing people who want to know the best way to put systems together.

Safety and Security

We've added a new topic to our popular seminar series -  Functional Safety (Profisafe) and IT Security (PROFInet).

This free, one-day seminar takes place in Manchester on May 12th addresses the key safety and security issues arising from the use of digital communications technologies in automated manufacturing and advanced engineering applications. Covering key application areas such as packaging, printing, electrical and electronics assembly, robotics, automotive engineering, drives, mechanical handling and logistics, control systems and energy management, it focuses on the safety aspects of system design and operations. Supported by live demonstrations and case studies the seminar will be of great value to Designers, Production Engineers and System Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern automated factories and machinery.

This event will provide delegates with an excellent networking opportunity and the ability to speak to our experts whom, we promise, will not force you to buy anything.
