June 2011
Dear ,

The summer conference season has begun and we are looking forward to meeting with professors and researchers to exchange ideas on how to improve engineering education and research. Here are few tips from leading universities around the world:
- Bristol University, UK benefits from control solutions that challenge students to explore and look for new solutions.
- The Advanced Visualization Lab at the University of Texas at San Antonio USA helps researchers better understand complex phenomena.

Our June issue of eNEWS also offers a preview of what the delegates at the upcoming ASEE 2011 and ACC 2011 conferences will see live: a demo of Quanser's Unmanned Ground Vehicle performing search and rescue mission. Plus, we introduce an online interactive tutorial that gives you a hands-on opportunity to learn how QUARC control software works.

We'd also like you to meet the newest member of our team, Dr. Tom Lee, who joined Quanser recently in the role of Chief Education Officer.

You can still request a complimentary copy of the recently published Norman Nise textbook and see how virtual experiments can help you teach control.

Enjoy reading our newsletter!

Sincerely,
Zuzana Fabusova, eNEWS Editor
TeachQUARC Spotlight
Hands-on Opportunity to Master QUARC
QUARC real-time control softwareDo you want your students to focus on control design theory rather than tedious code writing? Are you looking for a tool to accelerate your research? QUARC control design software can help. And the new QUARC Interactive Tutorial can help you master QUARC itself. The interactive simulation of the software gives you an overview of how QUARC works and how it can handle tasks from basic to advanced. The tutorial also allows you to create the programming yourself and see the results.

QGV on a Search and Rescue Mission
Quanser Unmanned Ground Vehicle (QGV)

The unmanned systems research at Quanser has not stopped with the introduction of the Unmanned Vehicle Systems Lab. Recently, our engineers experimented with a new Quanser Unmanned Ground Vehicle (QGV). This mobile robot, equipped with a five degree-of-freedom articulated arm, a camera and infra-red range sensors, can be controlled by a human operator or act as an autonomous robot. Stop by Quanser's Innovation Hub at the ASEE 2011 and ACC 2011 conferences to see a live demo.

See it All on a VisWall

ADvanced Visualization Lab at UTSATo help researchers understand and experience complex phenomena, the University of Texas at San Antonio recently opened a state-of-the-art digital facility: the Advanced Visualization Lab. Featuring a VisWall - two dozen widescreen monitors mounted on a wall, the lab allows users to analyze large amounts of data and offers an unusual immersive visual experience. Quanser's HD2 high definition haptic device plays a major role in expanding the possibilities of the lab.
