Friends of Junior Achievement
Warmer weather is finally here. Your JA in Brown County team is looking to warm up more people and businesses to the idea of volunteering with us. One project we are excited to get underway is the development of a video that incorporates real volunteer and children stories and experience with the JA programs. The video can then be used in company presentations, our social media, etc. We're building something here!
Again, THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered on behalf of Junior Achievement for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. Our appreciation party was on May 18th at the Stadium View and was a lot of fun! Keep us in mind for next year everyone as we could use your help.
We hope all the teachers we work with have a wonderful summer and we look forward to planning for the fall programs. We will continue to bring everyone JA in Brown County news year round so be sure to look out for your newsletter.
Thank you, all of you, for your continued involvement with Junior Achievement.

Cellcom Marathon a Huge Success!
Water stations, race packet assembly, cone/mile marker set-up and take down... Sounds like alot of work and it was! But, it went quickly and efficiently with all the help of our volunteers - THANK YOU! The weather was cold and windy so it could have been a bit better for the runners. However, seeing the excitement and turnout regardless of the elements, one can certainly appreciate their accomplishments. The wrap up meeting was May 17th and the reported funds raised was phenomenal. Be sure to read the article (Laura Bilotti is interviewed) and look to our Facebook page for pictures and stories.

Tours of the JA Capstone Programs at the Kohl Education Center
11111 West Liberty Drive, Milwaukee WI

As part of its JA Capstone Programs, JA Biz Town and JA Finance Park are reality based, hands on programs that give elementary, middle, and high school students opportunities for real, rather than imagined experiences, active, rather than passive learning, and actual decision-making, complete with consequences. A tour of the facilities was held throughout May. Anyone interested in a tour or who would like more information should contact Melisse Wen at 414.352.5350 or mwen@jawis.org. |
Volunteer Story Spotlight
From the desk of Stiliana Georgieva, Alliance Construction and Design
Stiliana is the Director or Marketing & Business Development and shares this story with us.
"I just finished my last class at Edison Middle School and wanted to share my experience with you.
It was a true pleasure teaching Global Marketplace at Edison Middle School and working with Mrs. Diane Declerc and her students.
The most rewarding moment was looking at the average score of the Pre/Post test growing from 55% to 89%.
Mrs. Declerc was extremely helpful and an outstanding leader/teacher. At the end of my last class I received a pink colored rock with the note: "You Rock Miss G. Best JA teacher ever!" My students called me Miss G, short for Georgieva. I loved every moment of my experience , which I found very gratifying.
Thank you JA for the opportunity to volunteer for such a great cause.
Best wishes from Alliance Construction & Design and myself"

Teacher Testimonials
Caryn Plinske's Southwest High School
Students Recognized by the Mayor of Green Bay by B.Danzinger
On May 17th, the Mayor of Green Bay made a proclamation recognizing a number of Southwest students who have been active/involved in the community and recognized their efforts in volunteerism, ethical responsibility, and stewardship. These students were a JA class, so Junior Achievement of Brown County was also recognized in the award for helping teach the students the importance of ethical business development and creating our future business leaders (the students actually formed a classroom based "nonprofit" organization and raised funds, toys, and canned food donations for local charities. It is always great to see our students recognized for their outstanding work and for JA in the positive influence we bring to the classroom.
The teacher of these honored Southwest students was Caryn Plinske. Brian Danzinger, a JA in Brown County board member and classroom volunteer taught the JA Globe program. JA in Brown county congratulates Ms. Plinske and her students for their hard work and recent recognition. |
