Rethinking Benefits for Nonprofit
Employees
As many
work sectors face increasing economic pressures, there's been a lot of news
about changes in employee benefits. Some employers have shifted the costs of
healthcare plans onto their employees, others have reduced or dropped their
benefit packages completely.
This
article highlights a few ways that organizations can rethink the benefits they
extend to their employees, especially during difficult economic times, such as
time-off and work arrangement policies, retirement planning options, and
flexible spending plans.

Success Story: Managing Director at BUILD
Commongood Careers is excited to
announce the hire of Christa Roth as the Managing Director at BUILD. Based in
Palo Alto,
California BUILD provides real-world entrepreneurial experience that empowers
youth from under-resourced communities. For this key leadership role, BUILD was
looking for a skilled and confident leader to strategically support the growth
of the organization with demonstrated abilities in quantitative assessment,
staff management and development, and proactive problem-solving.
With the support of Commongood Careers, CEO and Founder Suzanne McKechnie
Klahr connected with Christa Roth. Christa was most recently the Chief Operating
Officer at Breakthrough Collaborative, a national organization which provides
rigorous academic programs for middle school students with limited educational
opportunities, preparing them to be the first in their family to graduate from
college. While there, Christa was challenged with a set of five newly adopted,
visionary goals and developed the plans and strategies to implement them across
the organization. Previously, Christa has served in a leadership capacity at a
number of other California non-profits including, Hands on
Network and Partners in School Innovation. "Commongood Careers is a great organization to work with -
they have excellent follow through, their team is extremely positive and
helpful, and thorough in their screening process. We are delighted to have
Christa as our new Managing Director and we are confident that she will build
incredible relationships with the team and use her expertise to help BUILD
grow." - Suzanne McKechnie Klahr, Founder and CEO, BUILD
